Surely it would just help broaden its appeal and boost sales for Subaru and Toyota. How many affordable, turbocharged RWD coupes are out there at the moment? I'm not saying that there should not be a cheaper NA model but most of the RWD coupes that I can think of from the past were available in normally aspirated and/or turbocharged form such as RX7, 200SX, Supra, Porsche 944 or BMW 2002. It would be wrong to turn it into an Impreza STI coupe but that's not what I was suggesting.
I'm sure it would, but I would like them to fit a more powerfull N/A.

I'm sure you'd get more torque with the bottom end from a UK sti

In the top greddy picture from the front wheels back I can see a mini masterati gran turismo?
That Greddy version looks the bees knees. Can't wait to finish uni and then get a job to buy one of these, this will be my first proper car, no doubt.

Fair enough but unlikely I imagine. I think 100bhp/litre is probably about on the limit of what's possible with a normally aspirated engine. Perhaps Honda may have beat it with the S2000 but not by much. To increase power and keep it NA, they would have to increase the engine size which may cause packaging issues and the huge expense of developing a new engine. Putting on a turbocharger would seem like the most logical way to get more power and Subaru have a long track record of doing this. I guess a supercharger would achieve the same effect but probably higher emissions.

It's an interesting point though, given the compression ratio of 12.5:1 I'm surprised it's not more powerful than 100hp/litre.

it doesn't rev *that* high. I think its around 7,000rpm compared to the honda's 9,000rpm? if it could rev that high with the same torque it'd be putting out ~260bhp

As Dagnut said, this will be to get it through the emissions regulations as they need to be done at a certain % of maximum RPM, which is what killed off the 9k Honda K20 as it was being tested 30% faster than any other NA 2.0 engine, even though you wouldn't realistically drive it like that.

The 12.5 compression should mean it will take to a set of hot cams quite well though...

That Schon looks wicked!
I just couldn't live with the acceleration times personally. But if it's tunable then I guess it will be the most used track car in about 5 years time smile

Nice to see it next to an AE86, it looks exactly the same size which is quite an achievement in a modern coupe. It's size might be surprising to a few when they first start appearing on the road.

Well at least the engine is in a decent configuration to warrant twin/quad pipes. The same on an inline engine looks a bit pointless.

That boot spoiler is better than the standard one, but the kits a bit much imho.

You git!! The colour and black wheels look great - would need to see kitted/non-kitted side by side but I'm thinking less is more. Still reckon on a gloss black wrap on the mirrors too... tongue out

Oh, and those chrome door slashes on the car in the background look well ghey innit bruv! Mind you they both seem to have different roof aerials as well. Is one a DAB aerial maybe?

I might be miss-reading this, but it seems that they take a car which handles and steers sweetly (halleluyah!) on its relatively modest wheel/tyre combination, and then risk screwing that up by fitting the biggest wheels they can squeeze in because they think it looks good?

And this is different to how the aftermarket has acted for years how exactly?
