They look so well built when they're just sitting there, however in reality a few whacks and their rear quarters are hanging off, and their engines hanging out.
One of them looks like its made of shredded wheat.
Built for stiffness and light weight rather than crash performance I guess.

You can see they damage quite a lot like a modern F1 car. Suspension arms break and the wheels fall off, the extremities bend and crush but the stiff tub that everything is bolted too and you sit in stays solid.

Wonder if it would get repaired, there really can't be more than a handful of white ones in the whole world and it doesn't look like an overly heavy shunt, can only hope though frown

There are as many white 512s in the world as there are people with a 512, a paint booth, and a desire to own one.

Had a ride in one last summer, it was wonderful, even if you can get more power in a Subaru today. $85,000 new in 1979, what was that, about £50,000?

Who wants a repainted Ferrari? I would rather an original one in the original colour, not one that was red and is now being painted a different colour, devalues it also screams that it has had a shunt

Speaking of newsreaders, caught a brief report on this on the six o'clock news on BBC1 tonight. I'm not sure what George Alagiah thought he was doing smirking as he read the report - it said, amongst other things, that a number of people had been taken to hospital following the crash (without saying on what their conditions were or whether they'd subsequently been released). Very poor form for a newsreader IMO, a multiple car crash isn't something to snigger over, especially after the recent crash on the M5 in Somerset recently.

More of this "art" to come (from Japan) I suspect.

I like the concept, just winced at the chosen car.

Full report here:

Note said newspaper illustrating a 430 instead of a 458. Poor form.
