Nice one Riggers. Excellent article and Derek Bell is a hero.
^ well said. Another vote for more of these features from meTIGA84 said:
100k - really? Cant see that myself. Even the rarity factor wouldn't put them that high surely?
I think the "normal" GTS's go for £60-£70k and the ClubSport (only 15 made, 275bhp, less weight, roll cage etc) go for north of £100k. Much rarer than a 2.7RS and they go for silly moneyMy daughter races her own 924 in the boxster champ (they have their own section)and she has grown to love its surprising performance and she would love this baby I am sure.
Years ago when they were new I had 924 Carrera alongside me at Goodwood when driving my MGBV8 but I have to say he made short work of me and I was left behind.
If you have the money and if its what you want then its worth it, I would throw a Picasso in the bin if I could not sell it.

The 'price of exclusivity', you see...
The 'ordinary' 210hp Carrera GT is almost as sharp-looking and, since they made 400 of those rather than 50, you could pick one up for £15k-£30k...
I very nearly bought a LHD 924 Carrera GT back in 2003, but chose my current E30 M3 instead...Fantastic car to drive, but the cockpit feels dated...The 'ordinary' 210hp Carrera GT is almost as sharp-looking and, since they made 400 of those rather than 50, you could pick one up for £15k-£30k...
In the Octane article, it was suggested that Bell's car had been fettled by the factory to put out approximately 290bhp. Is this right? I note the comment above about the car in Octane being different from this car but I assume that was the photo car only not that Bell has two. I do think these are the loveliest of the 924/944/968 series, a much more knowing choice than the 968 CS. The 944 Turbo S "silver rose" is interesting, too: Gmund Cars have two for sale at the moment, both lovely and interesting and striking a chord in my memory.

Had a black CGT in the late 80's. Great car ahead of its time, easy 150MPH plus performance with 30+MPG all the time, brilliant for a 2Litre engine at the time. Only downside was the interior finish and dogleg first gear, which took a bit of getting used to. The brakes were a bit marginal too for sustained abuse. Another of the cars I wish I'd kept!!!!!! Interesting comparison with the Toyotasubaru thingamyjig. 2 seats, 2Litre, 200BHP, 150MPH etc etc. Know which one I want.
When I went to pick up my 944turbo my brother dropped me off in his AE86 the salesman said at the time we couldn't get too cars that were more fun sideways. I will be taking a hard look at the new ones though, my 944 coupe is over 300BHP and it will get my licence into trouble one day!Tony
Nice looking car. When I was an impressionable teenager my neighbour had a Carrera GT. I blame it for getting me interested in cars in the first place!
In fact the 924/944 shape is almost coming into it's own again. Perhaps it's destined for classic status after all - assuming there are any left...

I remember seeing this car in th 80's at Brands Hatch during a group C race. The 944 owes it's shape to the 924 carrera GT. It was cirtainly the reason I bought a 944 when they first came out. Still if you want a 924 Carrera GTS Friesinger Motorsport have a dark grey one for 80,000 Euros. They also have an ex. Al Holbert 924 Carrera GTR for sale. just look on their website.

Agreed. The rattlers are disappearing, most gone as scrap or parts for better cars, or as excellent bases for cheap track work. Prices of good ones are starting to creep up slowly. In fact the 924/944 shape is almost coming into it's own again. Perhaps it's destined for classic status after all - assuming there are any left...
Sold our 924S recently after 7 years. Great car already sorely missed.
The 'GTS' is in a different league, along with GT and GTR. Off to update dream garage.
Stunning photos by the way, PH. 924 has rarely looked better, except maybe the GTR here
