LukeBird said: It'll be interesting to see how well the GT3 is received now it is using a 'regular' 911 engine. On a sidenote, how fabulous does this look- (Courtesy of Auto Motor & Sport) Presumably a regular 911 body hiding the GT3's running gear. centre pipes give it away that it's running a gt3 engine

. Porsche have a lot of investment in the GT3 name, I suppose Kia could pinch it if it is not being used In the same vein , heard mention that BMW may be dropping the M3 name in favour of M4.

One thing I know for sure, Chris Harris will cream his pants after driving it. He'll also call it 'the best handling Porsche/car, ever'.

It's been around for years now that BMW would keep the 3 saloon/touring but move the coupe/cab to 4 (as per the 5 saloon/touring and 6 coupe/cab and also Audi moving the 'A4 coupe' up to the A5). I think I heard this talk when the e9x series was due to break cover. It makes marketing / commercial / pricing sense if the coupe/cab model appears to be upmarket and you can charge more for it - but it would mean that an M3 coupe would be an M4. And BMW seem to be very nervous about messing with the iconic "M3" badge.

I'm lost how many variants are there now? Variants of the 911 now total 14,329.

That new rear wing doesn't work for me. I can only hope that it's something more akin to the curvier wing that came with the artists impression in Evo this month.
Also I'm not sure how these wings will look with the longer wheelbase of the new car. They could look a little awkward. I'm sure the car will drive well. But owners have to be turned on by the way their cars look aswell.

(14,900+ versions I read) Each one looking just like the previous old thing, but always announced as "the NEW 911". Gosh the moulds must be worn out by now! Of course Porsche can go on making their 911 (on and on, like Morgan...), but Morgan doesn't talk about a NEW model when they change the shape of their rear wing... err, I mean their door handle.
