Stage 1 in my leon cupra is similar to that. Plus it's nicer to look at!
You must have a good one or visited a generous dyno, Revo only claim from +35bhp/50lbft for stage 1, so that's an extra 10bhp above a stock MPS but it still has less torque so it's a good 100lb/ft down on the BBR stage 2, which will make a difference so not quite similar.Don't forget the 2 cars have the same turbo and fuel pump so will need similar mods to see similar results. If you take Revo's best claims for stage 2 you're still only at 306bhp & 317lb/ft for a cupra which is similar the BBR 320/370.
There's been one at a local garage in the Lakes, for a while now. Mazda 3 MPS, 25k, 2008 reg, £6.5k. Looks absolutly nowt, unless you're in the know. Dead tempted, but then another grand would have bought a proper hero, an STI, and you get AWD with that rascal, and a scoop, and a wing, and one of the best noises available.....and the same mpg........eek!!!!!
So, bearing mind my Mazda CX7 has the same 2.3 lump and I assume the AWD , would BBR be able to do this on my car.
I am considering flogging the MX5 for an XF and replacing the CX with a second hand L322 Range Rover.
Now I'm thinking it might be better to have some fun with the CX rather than buying into a 15K Rangey.

Was there a point to this post? But his post doesn't make much sense as I have a hard time believing it can get around 320bhp wih a stage one.

I've had this conversion done to my MPS, done about 2k miles with it now and it has made the car serious fun to drive. The power comes in quick and the car feels really eager to go faster so you do have to be careful with the loud pedal, the car was very good at overtaking when stock but now it's a different animal.
I'm a little surprised to hear about torque steer, i know what limits BBR have put on the reviewed car in 1st & 2nd and i've had mine taken off completely yet i only get torque steer on very bad roads, i don't get a hint of it on 95% of roads. The limits were deliberately left on to avoid the default "torque steer" comments in media reviews.
I have taken a few scalps of supposedly quick cars that cost 4 times as much yet my trip computer tells me i'm averaging 32.3mpg which isn't bad, not sure there's a better all rounder for the price.
The car does handle the power well and i'll be looking at the stage 3 conversion early next year, you can never have too much power!
As mentioned in the article, the car was driven on some rough/challenging B roads. I suppose you can either call that a bit unfair for a car such as this one, or a typical B-road/hot hatch environment. Depends on your viewpoint. As does how much torque steer is acceptable, really. I thought it was worth mentioning the conditions as well, because it was just about the worst combo for a powerful front-driver. I don't know whether BBR has recently changed the mapping on the car to remove some of the torque limits, but I can only report as I find and I'd say the torque steer was comparable with a Mk1 FRS for instance. I'm sure on smoother roads it's not an issue (not that it's a deal breaker anyway, just a characteristic of the car).I'm a little surprised to hear about torque steer, i know what limits BBR have put on the reviewed car in 1st & 2nd and i've had mine taken off completely yet i only get torque steer on very bad roads, i don't get a hint of it on 95% of roads. Enjoy your car, and I'm sure Stage 3 will be, err, rapid...

Yep, no reason it won't go on a CX7 as they're mechanically identical under the bonnet.I am considering flogging the MX5 for an XF and replacing the CX with a second hand L322 Range Rover.

C'mon, these stats are relevant, and interesting...
Mines only a mk1 running 300bhp, and i should imagine its abit quicker then mine, but mine is around 5.5sec to 60mph 60-100mph 6.3secs top speed ( limiter removed clock speed ) so far 165mphTop speed: na

So you can get a good base car for £6k, £2k for tuning, and you have a 5 year old, sensible miles 320bhp 4wd beast with Japanese reliability and a car thats quite subtle to look at, so a good sleeper, and they are fully loaded. £8k all in. What's the catch?
(And yes the conversion is compatible with the 6 MPS)

I lost the 6th gear in my 6MPS, apparently so have a few others, only major problem (in terms of cost of repair) i'm aware of.So you can get a good base car for £6k, £2k for tuning, and you have a 5 year old, sensible miles 320bhp 4wd beast with Japanese reliability and a car thats quite subtle to look at, so a good sleeper, and they are fully loaded. £8k all in. Barking - most satisfactory!
If this was tested the road between Silverstone and Tingewick I'm not surprised it had the odd moment of torque steer.
This. It's a flipping awful road.If this was tested the road between Silverstone and Tingewick I'm not surprised it had the odd moment of torque steer.
Lovely looking car, though. I'd much rather take one of these than a hot Focus or Golf. Much more interesting.
