I just haven't sussed the quote boxes yet which is frustrating me !
Just click the little "quote" icon at the top of the desired post. Or if there's already more than one comment in that post, click "quote all" and it will include both (or more) quotes.angusc43 said:
I have real soft spot for Hondas of that generation. I wonder if they had wishbones all round like the Accords at that time.
Yep, they definitely did. Sold extremely well as an Acura in the US and beat Lexus and the Germans for most sales by model. Still see quite a few running about on my trips there which is a testament to their solidity. Great build quality, nice steer and a seamlessly lovely V6. Would love one of the 2nd-gen 6-speed manual coupes but as I recall they weren't sold here. Endorsed by Harrison Ford.

Yes SOTW! Good call, great car.
I bought one of these about 5 years ago.
It was a last minute purchase to go travelling round France with my ex.
The car had done 180,000 miles and had one owner, paid £200 for it. We then went straight to Spain, then France. Did 3000 faultless miles followed by another 7000 miles back in England over the next year.
Every single thing worked, the self closing doors, auto seatbelts etc.
Silky smooth 3.2 v6 was pokey enough but so smooth you never noticed it.
Then sold it on for £800 a year later. Wish I hadn't really as I don't think I'll ever get a car that will look after me like that again.
So, yeah, great shed of the week PH. Only shame is you didn't pick the coupe..

Back to the shed itself - I wonder how the business plan works for this dealer? At £400 does he look to take £100, £200 out of the deal? If £200 then he gave the previous owner £200, in which case the previous owner would probably have been as well off scrapping it!
Because your average punter wouldn't know what to do to scrap a car, and even if it was explained to them they probably wouldn't be too keen on doing it. Most Scrappies are usually in dingy parts of town and have a less than shiny reputation. The dealer might have taken it in part-ex for another car. A few hundred clear on this and a few hundred on the other car and he's up £400-500. Don't need too many like that in a week.

Quick question, its MOT expires soon. Whats stopping the seller from sticking a ticket on and asking for MORE? Is there something fundamentally wrong underneath the car etc? I imagine they'd be pricey to fix?
That's the million-dollar question, isn't it? If it can go through an MOT without anything needing doing on it, you could surely get about £800 for it? Especially if you're selling in the South East......must look up the cost of the train to Barry...
