Thats a hell of a lot of car for the money! My dad had one about 11 years ago and was a great car. The HG did go but this can happen to any car and I don't think it's a common fault. For £400 though if it did go, chuck it away and replace!

Ancient Hondas have to be the best cheap cars available. £395 really is pocket money motoring. So what if it stops working in a few months? The newer one looks pretty smart in a small-time council estate drug dealer way.

Going off the track of the subject a bit guys, but, if I had a V8 the last thing I'd do is try to cancel out the noise!! I drive my '88 aircooled 911 with the stereo turned off so much I expect the on/off button will be seized in the off position!! Are you real PH's?

I think the latest one is a good looking car. And apparently, the stereo plays sort of road noise anti-sound to try cancel out tyre and road noise. Basically like how noise reduction ear phones work! Nice pub fact thats sure to have everyone leave you.
Good-looking? Really? Not in my head, but there you go...

Quite a lot of car makers are jumping on that noise-cancellation bandwagon these days, and quite a lot are using the same sort of tech to mitigate the effects of cylinder deactivation on V8s (thinking Audi and Merc here).

As usual, Honda ahead of the curve on tech but not shouting about it enough...

Ah, you misunderstand me - when in cylinder deactiviation mode they soundlike dogy four-cylinder engines, so Audi uses the stereo to 'add in' the noise of extra cylinders. it's a refinement thing...

I was liking that car until I seen the interior. Tan/cream leather interior in any car is just horrid.
I don't been done agreeing with you theres. Tan/cream leathers does do give a nicey airy likeyness to a comfy non horrid seats.
i love cream leather interior, but may be biased. i prefer it with cream seats with a black dash, to give a nice contrast.

Thanks for the explanation Riggers, though I do understand the need for the cylinder de-activation (economy/environmentally etc)I'm a bit old school and believe in the true raw noise of an engine, none of this synthetically produced nonsense. There's nothing quite like the burbly of an air-cooled flat six at idle, only thing better is an air-cooled flat six at full tilt going through a tunnel with the windows open..........The Legend is nice though.......

Indeed, dark interiors are just horrible. The cream leather is far superior

Here it is again and the rear arches look immaculate(ish) as the first owner must have had them redone professionally. Parked correctly outside the coffee shop. Recently had the water pump replaced but its worth it IMO.

Spooky.

Yes, intact rear arches on a puma are even less believable though!

A WHOLE car for the price of what many people in London regard as a "good night out". Worth a punt even if you scrap it in March.
Not too bad a carriage either in its youth, though always below the radar for enthusiasts

Something for the unpretentious amongst us

I've always liked them, but a big petrol with an automatic doesn't make for the most eco motoring in the current age...but I wouldn't mind buying one for a europe banger race, seems ideal for it

In Yorkshire thats a months weekends out.

In Newcastle thats someones annual income.
On PH it is about two minute's worth of wages.

£400! eek It can't be worth a lot less than that in scrap surely? Unbelievable value.

I walk past one of these every morning on the way to work. It's an absolute behemoth! Massive I tells ya!

That was exactly my first thought, would be absolutely perfect for a long distance rally thing, comfortable- reliable- automatic gearbox and peanuts to buy! Great car!
I'm thinking ideal for some sort of contintental charity rally, then just leave it there and fly back!

Was feeling quite smug as I picked up a 1996 Skoda Pickup this week for £410 - taxed till the end of the month and MOT till October next year
Only bought it to move some old carpet and bits gardening stuff, am now wondering whether i should have bought a Legend and stuffed it all on the back seat!
