Was feeling quite smug as I picked up a 1996 Skoda Pickup this week for £410 - taxed till the end of the month and MOT till October next year
Only bought it to move some old carpet and bits gardening stuff, am now wondering whether i should have bought a Legend and stuffed it all on the back seat!
I think you just answered your own question there...... these look truly epic bargains !!

Definatley my kinda shed! I prefer these to the usual German barges as the equipment and reliability more than make up for the lack of image.

Same engine as the NSX?
Completely different from what I know.
I'm fully prepared to be corrected here but I've a feeling that it actually is.

I think it's the same basic block with non of the extra magic.

Well, Audi recently tried to copy the engine layout, but still buggered it up by getting it too far forward. The Legend's would have been perfect for SH-AWD, had Honda not lost the plot recently. Pity Honda cannot build cars like it anymore.

They were a very smooth, refined and well-balanced car for a big FWD.

The engine was a proper 60 degree V6, unlike the NSX whose 'characterful' 90 degree V6 was related to the old Legend/800 unit - slightly.

The Honda V6:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_C_engine#C32B

Wikipedia says the NSX came with the C30A and C32B.

If another wants to trawl through that and highlight links between the NSX and Legend engine.

'The C32B is a highly tuned DOHC V6 used in the Honda NSX, which produces 290 hp (216 kW) and 224 lbf•ft (304 N•m). The engine is essentially an update to the C30A and does not share commonality with the C32A.'

Wikipedia says the C32A is used in the Legend.

So what we're saying here is....

...what we're REALLY saying here is, when all is said and done.....

...you're getting a Honda NSX for less than £400!

Amazing.

Well there's at least one Legend (albeit a first gen) with an NSX engine in it smile

If it had enough pedals I'd put the engine in my Rover.

Nice shed, bit of E39 7 Series about the front end but if you are considering a Legend then surely an LS400 in pearl white with gold badges is the ultimate Jap luxo barge?

i love cream leather interior, but may be biased. i prefer it with cream seats with a black dash, to give a nice contrast.
I agree, my Aston has parchment contrasting dark green paint, such a airy ambience.

A sod to keep clean though!

(cannot help hankering for a Maserati QP in dark blue with cream...)

Ancient Hondas have to be the best cheap cars available. £395 really is pocket money motoring. So what if it stops working in a few months? The newer one looks pretty smart in a small-time council estate drug dealer way.
Thats what i thought. Probably been a few bodies in the boot as i imagine its more than suitable.

I stand to be corrected too.

My understanding was the only spec they have in common is both are 90 degree V6's of 3.0 & 3.2lt, that have similar exterior dimensions other than that they share no commonality.

This is probably the least criticised SOTW for months. The main topic of conversation now seems to be the similarity or not between this and an NSX engine.

Always worth discussing Honda engines, no?

The later Legends did come with SH-AWD and I think Honda still build them, they just don't sell them (or they aren't bought by anyone) in the UK. The Americans buy loads of them with the Acura badge stuck on top.

It wasn't a criticism of the engine discussion, more a comment on the lack of " my Dad had one of those and it was rubbish" type of posting.
I don't know what that proves- maybe that not many were sold, maybe the type of person who buys one isn't on here, or maybe that they're just good cars and no-one has a particular complaint about them.

My misunderstanding, it just was the way you worded you comment.

Anyway, I think it's a case of just being a good car, plus it's Honda and also the fact they really weren't a seller. I only recall being told of one possible problem on the earlier 90's version and that was in connection to the diff but think that was just a leaking oil seal.

You're missing the point; the KB1 has a regular nose-heavy transverse end-on layout, unlike the earlier iterations.

Admittedly it's more space-efficient.

The C30/32B is quite heavy, with bulky DOHC heads.

The J-series is very light & efficient, with compact SOHC heads.

It makes the wonderful 225 outboard work!
