I'm still planning to drop a Toyota 4E-FE lump in an mg midget - 85bhp and slick little 5spd box in a reliable fuel efficient package. I think it would keep the driving appeal pure going for a similar power output to the original 1500 model.
Besides if the power proves to be too low - a 4E-FTE with 133bhp would be a straight swap!

So before you guys take another photo of some blokes out in the shed mucking about with a car can you make it a little more of a mess?

My shop looks nothing like this!

I saw that one at the NEC in November, looks a decent little car. I prefer it looking like this, which were the first magazine pictures of it. I originally thought they were all going to be this colour scheme.

Always thought they suited the car more so than wires.
Less fussy.
Here she is.
Actually Flame red with red leather and red carpets.
Think I was experimenting with B&W photography at the time.....

They've not done anything people in sheds have been doing for years. They're just charging £40k to do it.

Sort of right I guess, I've not seen many power steered, airconditioned, 4 pot braked, 6 speed, 200 bhp plus 4 pot ally block engined, brand new seam welded chassised, painted fit for an Aston, trimmed fit for a Bentley, professionally sorted and suspended, warranted MGBs but I'm sure they're out there, ten a penny wink

I'll get my coat...

you've not looked hard enough then. Lots of these running round with double wishbone suspension upgraded brakes and 200bhp zetec's.

Point of the Alfa V6 is, well, it looks fab, sounds fab and is a bit of Italy. Plus it's in my 156 at the mo so as I said I am waiting for the tin worm to finish its meal it's a no brainer...
I reckon that'd be a bit of a squeeze, both in terms of height and width...but I'd love to see it done smile

I'm sure you're right, with all due respect I don't think that's the market the LE50 is aimed at.

Not wishing to dis 'man in a shed' either but having had a good poke around the car in question the attention to packaging, detail and quality of finish is something to behold. It's something for Frontline to be proud of and I think something for a petrolhead to appreciate regardless of whether they want one or see it as value for money.

I wish them luck as it's a beautiful car being built and sold by a British company.

A minor point though, the zetec, as good as it is really isn't up to completing against a Duratec - I can say this as I have a zetec in my 7 and in weight terms alone it really isn't in the same league.

I think that i have already posted this but can't see it on board so here goes one more
time....I went to the NEC motor show to look at my favourite car, E Types and I spotted this fab new
LE 50 which took me back to my MGB days. Days that I couldn't afford to buy a bike let alone and MGB.
After looking around this car, I wanted one..... Should I get rid of my E Type or have two very trendy
motors in my garage. This LE50 will give any porche a run for its money, but also a bit of classic street
cred as well. decisions, decisions.

anyone seen the 69 dodge charger thats was modernised by west coast customs? Under the stunning body was the chassis from a 2005 dodge charger..

a disgrace to a rare classic or a brilliant idea?

NB. A decent charger would cost you $30,000 upwards, this thing cost over a $100,000!!

Firstly, happy new year one and all! party

A friend of mine pointed me to this thread as I have a K Series engined MGB that I plan to sell sometime around Easter this year.

It's a late 1974 Chrome bumpered roadster that has had the following done to it:

Body - seam welded and painted (inside & out) Nightfire Red
Suspension - RV8 front suspension (rear standard for now)
Exhaust - Stainless steel
Engine - K Series 1.8 litre (non VVC) with polished & ported head, uprated cams, fuel injected, individual throttle bodies, GEMS engine management, K&N filters with carbon fibre air box.
Gearbox - Ford 5 speed.

The work was carried out by Tony Bolton in Preston with the engine work essentially followed the contents of Dave Andrew's excellent web page ( http://kengine.dvapower.com/ ).

The car has become something of a garage queen so I'll be giving it to Summit Motors to fettle and then offering it up for sale.

If anyone is potentially interested let me know and I'll keep you updated.

Cheers

Gordon

Yes sir ! the full big Rover V8 with manual 5 speed. "Morspeed" modified cyl-heads
crane camshaft "Edelbrock" 4barrel & performer manifold. through the fenders headers with twin straight pipes. coil over front suspension ,lowered with up-graded brakes . approx 300bhp this car was so fast that we had to up grade the head lamps in order to stay on the road at night. full "Sebring" kit to enable the fitting of decent size tyres and extended wheels to handle the extra performance. I was so pleased with the result that I continued to produce several variations for other people, roadsters ,V6 and V8 of different spec's until old age and legislation put a stop to my efforts. Iff you click on my photo to enlarge, notice the special front bumper I made to simplify converting rubber bumper cars (incorporating the spoiler as a one piece bolt on front assy ) in lightwieght FG.

Why would you do this??

I'm sure a 60's GT40 could be coaxed to give better performance with a more modern engine - keep them original
