RE: Driven: Frontline Developments MG LE50

O' the irony... to celebrated 50 years of Great British sportscar heritage they are making 50 replicas with a Jap engine in it and this is from a heritage company... It could not be more wrong if they tried.
And the want what.... £50,000 for it ???? Someone has lost the plot... As others have said an MX5 in Grand Dads Clothes. Now if it had at least a 260bhp ford duratec engine. 6x Speed gear box. Independent suspension with all British Build and components it would at least be a celebration of something British or as close as possible.
With an MX5 engine it will cost £50k to buy and only £4-6k once off the forecourt
Personally for that money I would rather have a Lotus Exige, Elise and have money left over for a well sorted out original MGB GT as a second car.
Come to think about it if you want some thing classic, original, with modern specs and built in Great Britain I would spend my money on a Morgan every time.... And you won't lose much in owning one.
Or for something outside the box..... What about a Ginetta G40?

Tiff Needell tests both the old MG MGB and the new MG LE50.

The LE50 looks like it could be a fun machine.
