With that link I get a story about a hotel owner calling people Chavs?
That is her car !
how do we know this?
Cos I said so. Case dismissed
No, that is not her car. The owner has nothing to do with the hotel from the link you gave.
Bloody weird then that she was driving it yesterday and parked like that outside Costa in Castle Marina. Even weirder it sports a "Motorpoint" registration and she married Mr Motorpoint (http://www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/Dealer-news-Motorpoint-Derby/story-18734480-detail/story.html)

Even weirder it is parked outside The Waltons all the time and the only person driving it is her.

Bloody weird !
You're right, sarcastic, but right. I was forgetting she doesn't share her husband's surname.

All that I can say is that if it was her genuine desire to make a success of this Hotel business, then she has a very strange way of going about it. To virtually double the price of existing bookings (if the disgruntled customers' claims are true) may reflect financial reality, but to my mind, they should be honoured by the new owner. By all means increase your prices for new bookings, but if you've bought a business with existing commitments, then I'd suggest that you should have assessed the impact of those existing commitments prior to signing off on the purchase. Not illegal, but definitely dishonourable.

Then again, with a millionaire husband to support, and a flashy house and car to fund, she probably needs every penny she can get her hands on. This media interest in her hotel is very much of the undesirable kind, and she has scored a massive PR own goal.

Oh, you were serious.

You appear to be stating that someone who spends more on a car than I have has the right to flout the law to ensure their car is not damaged just because of the price tag.

I can't afford to fix my car up either (regardless of its cost), so I can park as I like too?
Yes i am being serious....the ding in the £500 ford fiesta is not going to bother the owner as his car is virtually worthless - same cannot be said of a £200k supercar! So yes, always take 2 spaces to avoid idiots opening their doors into me, and what the heck if i get fined - much more expensive to fix the car.

And you have another car to drive while yours is being fixed, while the cheap car is the owner's only means of transport....

Don't go shopping in your supercar if it's so precious to you.

I parked like this due to the Cayenne beside me. I thought it would be considerate due to the large doors and it also saves me any potential dings. I didn't give it a second thought until I heard one guy exclaim;

"Ha, look at that Skoda...it's only just in the space."

I wouldn't be able to walk away knowing that my car isn't centered in the space. Shameful wink

I bow down to you. You spent £200k on a car so are clearly a much better human being than I am.

I apologise for questioning you.

Anyone watch Parking Mad on Monday.

I couldn't figure when it showed a T junction, road to the left and right was regular two way traffic, as you approached the junction from a no entry road there was a No left turn with a sneaky camera van waiting to catch motorists who turned left

Watched the clip and just totally stumped.

Saw this on FB recently and smiled wryly.

"A few days ago in a parking lot in Lisbon wheelchair users and volunteers occupied all the available Non Disabled spaces to make a point to able body motorists what it is like to have "their" parking places unavailable to them.
On every wheelchair various notes were left like "be right back", "it only takes a moment", "I'm get something here", etc.
It would be wonderful to do this at all shopping centres with about 300 chairs during the entire Christmas Week to get the point across to them."

I see where you're coming from but I don't entirely agree with you.
I've had some really low value cars in my time but being a petrolhead means they were all my pride and joy. Usually pristine and well looked after. I cant say that it would be more annoying coming back to an old XR2 or a >£100k car with a dent in the door. Just one would be much more painful to repair. When I say painful, I mean the inability to effectively/easily repair a composite or ally panel over steel.
Anyone who parks should be able to expect that others will respect their property and take care not to damage it. The problem is there are far too many inconsiderate drivers and owners of motorised shopping trollies that just don't care. They let kids fling doors open and simply show a poor attitude. Even comments on here like "if you don't want it dinged, buy a different car" just demonstrate the lack of consideration.
Add to that the narrow parking spots designed for cars from 40 years ago and we find ourselves thinking more and more about defensive parking. When that isn't enough, people start parking badly to prevent damage.
Coming back to my car without £1000's of damage from a ding is more important to me than anyone else's opinion. So until the above changes, or people with camera phones and an opinion decide to offer to pay for any damage, then I will park as I see fit, not as they do.
(with the exception of designated disabled spots, they should ALWAYS be respected.).

Meanwhile back to reality. Stonehaven this morning, a lovely sunny day and the beach was particularily busy, parking is a premium at the best of times.

So the guy in the VW parks up first, the car to his right wasnt there at this time. (which is a turning area - see picture 3.

So this forces the guy in the Audi to park over the line, but the Jaguar has parked correctly.

Resulting in one space unavailable because the plank in the VW cant be arsed to park correctly, maybe his VW is worth £100,000 or something biggrin

Not to be outdone due to no spaces left, these clowns decide to park up in the Turning Space area.

Maybe the sun brings out the idiots.

Don't agree with this one bit. Yes you paid more for a car but that doesn't not mean it isn't going to bother the owner of someone who paid considerably less.
A friend of mine parked up in his a4 in tesco, car pulls up next to him before he gets out. The mirrors must of been touching.
My friend is now stuck as he can't open his door, winds down his window and asks the woman to move over please so he can get out. She refuses and uses some colourful language and walks off.

She turns back round seconds later as she hears the first bang. My friend is smashing his door open into her car so he had enough room to get out.
Childish, yes, and moving to another space would of been sensible. However with the woman not even moving back into her own space or reversing slightly so he can get out first I don't blame him.
