For doing high speeds in this country it has to be Vmax or Millbrook highspeed bowl.

I passengered in a 202mph run in a fettled 997 Turbo S at Vmax last year .......it was THE best motoring experience I've ever had, if you have the money then go for it !

Edit : the 202mph was official, it read out 207mph on the speedo.

A little off the budget for speed but know a guy who has an f40 with a tubi exhaust and a bit of extra boost running 550bhp who has a very long section of dual carriageway not far from home with no exits or on roads and regularly hits over 200mph in the summer when its really quiet and has hit 209mph on gps on one run.
I imagine the f40 will be one of the quickest to 200mph. I can't believe he modified the car though; i'm led to believe that would knock the re-sale value of the car quite a bit, (not that it matters if you have an f40 I suppose)!

Millbrooks too tight for high speeds, I think 170-180's about it.
O right, just a thought. Can't think of many more places in the UK that are legal......

Plenty of dead straight, flat roads around if you want to risk it, fairly local dual carriage way to me most cars can be maxed.

yes very risky.

2am do a loop of the road at normal speed, make sure it's clear. Return with your bks tucked well and truly between your legs and floor it.
Highly dangerous and very irresponsible but only way I can see people maxing their cars if they want long straights in the UK.

If I was going to to that I'd go sans number plates as well.

1. How? Tell bank your missus is pregnant with twins and you want to buy another much bigger house and take out bridging loan.

Don't buy house, buy Porsche 962

2. Why? At this juncture the phrase two hundred in Porsche 962

sounds good.

3. Where? Pick a section of road you know intimately.

4. When? Dead of night probably best.

5. Risk assessment. Having followed steps 1-4,
chances of success: almost certain
danger of death: virtually none
danger of withering look from Judge: slim (at this juncture the phrase two hundred in Porsche 962 wouldn't sound so good)

Highly unlikely you'd see 200 in a stock F458.

It really is a gargantuan task.

Cheapest and best is to buy a ticket for a jet plane.
They go all the way up to about 600mph, and are awesome.

550+bhp, the correct gearing and an aerodynamic car, then head over to Germany.

If you pick your time and place, there are a few stretches where you could hit 200mph.

Some are a lot quieter than others.

Artics are banned from the autobahns on some days as well.

RAF Marham have a 2 mile runway & let cars run on it once a year. As above, you'll need mental power to do a true 200mph then mental brakes to slow down from that speed without crashing ... most fast cars slow down significantly above 100mph, most supercars ditto after 150mph. My old 450hp Impreza ran out of revs at a true 159mph.

Why bother buying something? Surely the cheapest way would be to rent a supercar for a day and race it down the autobahn.

It can't be that busy at night.
