I must be the odd one out here, the first thing I do when I buy a car is sit on the sofa and read the manual!!
You always find numerous clever little features on any car, like how to adjust speed sensitive radio volume for example.
If most dont bother to find out about all of these things, manufacturers are wasting their R&D spend?

Just discovered both the Volvos have little levers on the rear of the passenger seat, down near the hinge for the backrest. Push them and the front seat folds forwards, totally flat. If only I knew that before trying to get a ladder in at some rediculous angle the other day.
Who knew...

I have had my car for about a year. I was at Le Mans last week when an enthusiast was looking over my car and said that it even had heated front seats. He was right! I had no idea. Shows yopu should take more notice when you have the car handed over|!

I had this annoying buzzer, if you reach under the seat you can easily pull apart the connection to the seatbelt and it stop the buzz goin off. still clunk click every trip though obvs!

Pretty cool i thought Mine does that, but as I don't have remote central locking, you have to stand with the key in the door, held to the "unlock" position - which kinda defeats the point!

I've had my Kia Cee'd for 5 months and 6000 miles and found out last week the interior mirror is double jointed so you can move it up or down, I always thought it got in the way at junctions

So I was chatting to the Mrs about kitting out a potential new car and said about our Subaru Legacy, "this car has electric heated leather seats a sunroof but look at the blanked off switches"at which point I found the heated front window screen switch which I didn't know I had. I've had the car 10 months.

I did the same as carlove, but I was wondering if my ears were deceiving me as the radio volume kept going up and down. I was sat on the bog when I found out why. Now you know where I read the car manual .

My Skoda Octy VRS has a tiny, '3rd' sun visor above the mirror that folds down just like the full size ones wither side. In so many cars I've had before, sod's law dictates that even though you have both big sun visors down, the bloody sun still gets you through the tiny gap above the rear view mirror. Well NO MORE! Not in my Skoda anyway!

I found out that my 5 series rear view mirror isn't attached using a detachable ball and socket connection and if you pull hard enough the whole assembly with rip off from the windscreen.

Found, after an hour or more of searching for the problem, that my Sierra Cosworth had a fuel pump cut-out switch (presumably as a safeguard in case of rollover) under the spare wheel in the boot after it was triggered by hitting a large rock on a country road. I'd only owned it for seven years at that stage....

Not a car I owned but a car I worked on
BMW 320si I think it was. Carried out an oil and filter change, filled it up with oil and then went to check it in the dipstick. 'Ummmmmmmmm where's the chuffing dipstick?'
To my mate 'Yo, come over here and find the dipstick for me?'
My mate 'Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm I cannot find the dipstick'
Bummer.
Ended up ringing a mate that works at BMW 'Oh yeah its got an electronic dipstick which you access through the on board computer'
Half an hour it took me to check the oil level

Half an hour it took me to check the oil level I would not trust an electronic dipstick, my 159 had an electronic dipstick and in the 3 years of ownership it was always full, luckily it also had a normal dipstick.

Was servicing my classic mini cooper after about 6 months and turned out there was no air filter in the housing, I wasnt very happy. Funnily enough, discovered this window thing on my MINI 4 years into ownership. Actually, there's a thought, the new one must do the same. Will find out tomorrow. I've hardly even played with my new car yes, I'll probably find all manner of cool things in the next few months. I do know I've got fog-lights this time round. Win.
