My first Mustang (97). Had it a couple of years before I found the overdrive switch under/behind the automatic gear lever handle. All it did was turn it off/on - so since it's on automatically by default, I never used it anyway.

After a few months I also noticed that lifting the door handle (even when locked, or not opening the door), turned on the interior lights.

Holding 'unlock' on my alfa key remotely wound the windows down and holding 'lock' wound them up- had the car about 2years.

Was servicing my classic mini cooper after about 6 months and turned out there was no air filter in the housing, I wasnt very happy.

It took me ages to find the interior light switch on my first Vauxhall.
Pull the headlight switch outwards?
On the Combo vans you push it in... took me 3 months of driving them every day to work that out. I thought some were just broken until then.

Found a USB memory stick in the spare wheel well of my MX-5. It must have been there years as it was only a 32mb one, well that and I had been the owner for nearly 2 years by then!

200SX - 11months in, I found rust.

Alfa - 3days in, I found the gearbox wasn't just "worn" but actually fekked.

Focus mk2 - Fog lights on pull switch.

MG ZR 105+ - 14months in, discovered it didn't have ABS after all yikes as I skidded down the M1 in a cloud of smoke

Volvo C70 LPT - 3years in, discovered that it had a washer bottle indicator when it became faulty

I'd had my Puma eight months before I realised the back seats DO fold down....

AND was shown how to do it by my mates Mum.

The shame... the shame...

Don't feel too bad, I was the same with my 306 rallye, although I had to ask on the owners club.

I went full retard. You should never go full retard.

I'm forever finding new places to store stuff - I swear whoever designed the X-Trail's interior had drug smuggling on their design brief.

I must be the only one who, upon purchasing a car, spends hours examining every crevice, corner and cubby! I also read the manual on the first evening of purchase. I like to know what i have.
My wife laughs when I bring a manual to bed to read.

got my brother to check the car skyline 4 days after buying it to find it had GTR brakes fitted (its a GTST 4 door). After 11 months i found a small button under the dash which lowers the front splitter which apparently is very rare

Not on my latest car but I had a 2002 V6 Mondeo some time ago and discovered after about 8 months of ownership, if you leave the windows down and press and hold the central locking, they all automatically close. Never knew this and used to park the car with a window or two down on purpose to "show off" my new discovery :-)

Most cars do the same. Try holding the 'open' one for a while too smile

I found a chunk of passanger window about the size of my fist wedged between the back and base of the passanger seat after 6months ownership of my Zr. No idea how it'd been missed by me or the previous owner.

I was disspointed to see that this "witchcraft trickery" didn't work on my Accord. I've not tried the 3 series out yet.

Rule 16, paragraph 5 sub section C of the "being a man act" states, and I quote, "Never read a manual of any sort. You're a man, what do you need a book for?"

Bought a Focus ST two weeks ago, just found out that above the drivers head, where the grab handle should be is a sunglasses case.
