In my S5 there's a weird blank key-fob in the glove box. Turns out it's a valet key. They're probably standard on loads of VAG cars, it will remain unused during my ownership I'd imagine.

When I first bought my E92 there was ground up weed in every cubby hole I could find, most of it was in the fold out front door pockets and underneath the hand brake gaiter. I thought I'd hoovered it all out months ago until I found some more recently underneath the fold out handle on the boot floor, where I keep my tyre goop. How it found its way there I have no idea. Also found a lighter at the weekend sat inside one of the passenger seat guide rails. Hopefully one day I'll find where the money is stashed!

Err, if it's the normal blank key fob thing, then it's actually for putting your reserve, thin black plastic key into so you can start the car after using said reserve key.

I've owned my DC5 Integra for six years and only recently discovered that I could tuck-in the metal part of the passenger seat-belt, into the gap where the seat-belt exits....to stop it rattling against the plastic interior body-trim.

You guys seriously thought those pockets stayed like this??
Yep I'm embarrassed to say that I did. In mitigation (or maybe not ...), mine has the black interior so it wasn't quite as visually obvious as in that picture. I did feel like a complete numpty when I discovered it though.

Surprising number of folk buy used cars with tape decks, not realising there is a multichanger in the boot, under the seat etc.
When I bought my Passat the dealer had no idea there was one hidden behind a panel in the boot.
Surely a quick play with the entertainment system input selector would have revealed its presence.

When I got my BMW E92 I thought that the door pockets were totally useless as they were so narrow. After about 3 years I discovered that they were hinged at the bottom and you could open them out.
You as well smile I thought it was just me.

Yo be fair I do not normally use them and noticed within 2 weeks.

Ex Skoda Hq (according to main dealer) Octavia.
After a few months found under seat cubby hole. Video camera inside. Interesting.. Called the dealer & said driver couldn't be traced so keep it.
I thought I'd better check what was on it in case something important like wedding etc smile

My 12v socket somehow outputs almost 14v, which causes a bunch of plug in electronics to overheat (my FM transmitter is the worst for this).

I think its because it runs 3 12v, electric mirrors and heated seats all off the one circuit there is something not working right, it shorts fuses every now and then.

On my E46 3 series there's a receptacle on the fuel filler cap that the pointed end of the fuel filler cap fits into. This means when filling up the cap can be secured to the flap, instead of having to put it on the petrol pump, which isn't always too close, especially if you find a pump free on the "wrong" side of the car. A handy touch.

I had the pic of 2 cars at a dealership. One of the reasons I took the Focus over the Passat was the Passat only had a tape deck... Only found out about the multichanger when a mate turned up a few days later with a Passat he had bought (happened to be the same car I was looking at) and gleefully showed me the MC he had found while poking around in the boot frown
