I'd love to take her to the moon.

It's not much further.
that advert is superb
Being an early engine, i'd want to see evidence of the original "organic" (in reality chocolate!) head gaskets
being replaced with the later steel ones, as that's a £2K timebomb otherwise.
If they're ok after 214k I'd consider it safe

What's the thoughts on this 328? I think it's a little overpriced myself but
it does look good in that colour and it seems to have a couple of sensible mods...

Indeed. Picture 7 is particularly crusty.

What do threadists make of the Skoda Superb? Seems 3k will get me into a 2002-04 vintage 130pd with anywhere between 100-150k miles.

I might secretly like them wink
Not a lot of experience with them, bu what I have seen, I like
I like them, particularly the estates. They are huge. First experience of them was in Marbella, lots of the taxi drivers there use them. Very smooth, leather seats where good, plenty of leg room and good quality finish. Lot of car for the dosh. Presumably the 130bhp can be chipped up a bit fairly easily?

Just missed out on this but hadn't really been planning on buying a car and couldn't decide in time whether to bid as didn't have enough time to do my homework....

Bit of a bummer.

Sounds like it needs a turbo at the very least

... I wouldn't be too gutted, could cost quite a bit to sort

Probably a bit slow for ferrying organs about! That fridge is massive though, probably wasn't cheap on the spec list either. Not that I would go wild for it, it's a modern Vauxhall, built by Vauxhall and I'd tend to try and avoid that.
Were they based on the Astra or the Vectra? Don't see many of them around. what was the point of them. I'm guessing Vectra floorpan as there's a 3.0 under the bonnet, Vauxhall trying to do sylish shooting brake. And failed.
I bet that cost a bit new, looks like top of the range.

Sounds of it new turbo. From what i can work out around 3-600 quid fitted. Worst case i can get a whole engine and gearbox off the bay for 7-1500 (top end fitted lower end just engine.

Say i worst case have to get a new engine fitted i would be looking at roughly 2.5k for a car worth 2.5-4k? all in.

However from the sounds of it it was just the turbo went no other problems.

So best case maybe 5-700 quid on top of 900 quid seems a billy bargain.

Oh well its all guesswork and why i decided not to bid.

No way is a 2000 160k mile 320d touring worth £4k

If it was all ok that car would be £1200-£1600 trade, as you say maybe £2500 private, so a lot of hassle for no real gain where I'm sitting, and whose say a second hand engine/turbo may not require some form of expenditure

Seems youre about right sadly. It would need to be merely a new turbo at 3-600 quid to be worth it.

Was unaware they were around 2-2.5k.

It was sort of executive hatchback? I am not sure what Vauxhall/Opel were thinking of and miserably failed...And is based on Vectra/GM platform

Was meant to replace the Omega - which I understand was highly rated for what it was - but essentially failed.

Obviously thinks the 'install', coilovers and magazine feature make it worth a lot more than it is.

Agree with Woody, it's right up in tidy M3 money!

Well, I've sold my diesel and I'm keen to replace it with a Barge. I've been considering E39's for a while, and have found this - 540i Auto with 103k. Auction is ending soon, any thoughts from the collective?
