Ostensibly over thread budget, but I think it belongs here really: http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

98$ 750iL with 113k for £6.5k? Seems at least double what I'd expect.

The leather looks very tired and under cared for in particular.

So despite owning a car that does everything I need, I'm already getting the urge to change. Must persuade myself that I can't do this for some time as my current car does pretty much everything I need it to do very well although more grunt is always nice.

Now I don't want to give Fox a heart attack but...

How many were there, 12? And yes, I may be bidding.

I spotted that one too Len. The high gloss wax and bright studio lights are doing it lots of favours. As you say the leather looks a bit tired - but that could probably be rectified to an extent. Like you, I consider it twice over its true value. Comparable cars (like mine) seem to be between £3k-£4k;

and

That said, Ultimate 7 still ask 'strong' prices;

As do some others;

(I may have spent too long looking at V12 BMW's today!)

That's lovely and rare. Worth swapping the 330i out for IMO.

We will need to overpay by £1 with this one, to make it thread eligible...

BMW 740i 4.4 V8 Automatic, 97000 miles, Full Service History and 4 matching Continental Premium tyres
... £999 ONO.

£2k will just about get you a leggy and less than ideal example of the 285 series V70 T5s, most likely ex-Plod and as such, sub SE spec, whereas it should also get a decent example of the 875 series V70. The older shape also feels lighter and more responsive, drinks a bit less and possesses a turning circle considerably better than that of the Queen Mary.

Looks good value, especially as a 4.4 rather than the more typical 4.0 ones at this price. Aspen Silver good, Lavender interior less so, but if it drives well, then nor is it the end of the world. At least it's not blue.

Even the more strongly priced ones there are £1k under that one I posted and I'd rather buy the U7 one all day long of all of them.

Also, it's probably odd and irrational, but if there's one thing that makes me instantly discount a 750i/iL for sale, it's mention of Bond. You don't see it in every DB5, DBS, V8 Vantage, Vanquish or DBS ad do you? Or 2CV, Routemaster, Renault 11, Esprit etc. hehe

they've used the worst plastics dressing in the world on that engine bay....looks awful. reasonably well priced, though not 4:3 screen as you'd expect in a 2000 car.

Not bad for a grand (ish): http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

A better clean engine bay pic:

Facelifted double VANOS 2.8 for a good price and a very well written/detailed walkaround (including minor items of bork) description of the car that few vendors in these murky waters would ever bother with. Speaks to being the sort of buyer and previous owner I'd be happier to deal with for such a punt.

Lavender was my least favourite bit too. Needs black for me. frown

Those of a bork-sensitive disposition, look away now: http://beta.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...

£3k E34 ///M5 3.8 5 speed.

FBWSH to 130k miles, new gearbox at 145k miles. Full leather interior, ski hatch. Edc suspension. Mot Till Dec 12, brand new battery, and oil service.
Bad points: Some small rust below the door and small clutch fluid leak (will require new slave cylinder)
Apart from these flaws , this is a presentable example, no doubt the E34 M5 will soon be following in the footsteps of the E30 M3 in terms of appreciating values

Nice bit of bork roulette that one. If I didn't already have 24 cylinders on the drive i'd be interested. Judging by the other 'cheap' E34 M5's that pop on this thread and 'the other thread' from time to time it wont hang around for long.

There was also an E30 320i knocking around at that time. Down to just the one V12, a 323i and a company Focus these days. Just 22 cylinders, 10.1 litres and 570 horses. No turbos and no dag-dags either. biggrin

Reminds me of the "How many Cylinders" thread. I've currently got 24 - 2xV8 and 2xI4, however it's 26 if we're including the lawnmower and strimmer!

Looks nice. I even like the lights. Even better with a bit of a chip.

http://pistonheads.com/sales/3883969.htm

the lights aren't bad, but the all-chrome grille is hideous....don't understand the appeal in that; especially on a silver car....silver overload or what!

also noticed in advert he says cam-belt position sensor replaced as it's a common issue, then says that it has a cam chain. errrr, am i missing something?
