Thanks Fox . No bugger will buy it though! Keep getting plenty of "offers" but no one has viewed it yet, infact I have only had one sensible call about it and that was only half an hour ago and its been up for 3 weeks.

I think I came across yours on eBay (~3.5k?), username similar to the reg showm in the pics on this thread?

If so, great ad and well written, my comments as a punter is that the photos seemed tiny especially given the detail and obvious effort you've put into writing the advert.

When on the browse and especially if it's some distance from me, I like to see nice high res shots before I consider a few hours in the car to view. I can't be the only one!

It's funny how so many purported low mileage cars are owned by fat blokes...

Yes that's mine, thanks for the feedback DJC. I have updated the pics since it was 1st linked on here and they are the same size as all ebay pics without paying for the upgrade? Thing is I havent had a single request for more pics which would be the sensible thing to ask?

Sadly all I'm getting are offers of approx 2-2.5k or ratty Corrado's in px. Now any offer is progess and in the past low bidders have become buyers but even polite responses with a polite decline and an indication of the kind of figure needed to buy the car are not even responded to.
There is alot made of emails being ignored so I make sure I always reply to 100% even the I'll give you a grand 2moz bruv texts.

The harsh reality is the phone has actually only rang twice, one who was deffinetly coming that weekend with and the sensible local guy who will hopefully view Monday. Started clearing some space in the garage earlier as it may be staying and one of the other toys will have to go but thats a thread in its own right

3395

Lovely indeed. Sadly it would sell a little quicker if it had less miles on the clock.

100,000 and someone would snap that up at 4495.

Far too nice a car to let it go for peanuts so you'll have to hold out for what you want seller.

If it's any consolation I think it's a quiet time in certain areas of car sales at the moment and three weeks without selling your car isn't long enough to worry about.

I wouldn't be surprised to have an example like yours in stock for at least 6 - 8 weeks at the moment, especially given the price point it is at. The fact that it is a nice one means it's worth hanging on as you'll get your money in the end, just need the right person at the right time.

When I sold my car last year it was advertised for 8 weeks costing me over 100 on Autotrader fees and in that time I had only 3 telephone calls. One timewaster, one guy who wanted me to PX a Focus ST and the guy who eventually bought it 2 months after it went up for sale. I maintained the same price throughout.

Can I get 3 seats across the back? E39 seats are too sculpted, hang on ticked the 728 box last year! Swaps have'nt been an issue, aswell as the tat was offered a nice Sport 330 CI by a forum 5 member but need to free up the really.

yes Exactly.

As long as you are in no rush to sell and can honestly say that your car is mintier than a pack of Polo mints, it will sell.

I've been spoilt in dealing with thread members you see, sold my 9-5 aero to allblackdup and it was a great experience.

No probs.

Why not host the images on a hosting site and embed the HTML img src tag in the eBay ad? That way you can get high res pics in the ad itself without paying for any upgrade.

I think the only people that would email for more or higher res pics are those specifically looking at your model (i.e. they're after a Champagne or a black BMW E39 with a V8). The casual browsers (who may or may not be serious buyers) tend not to bother, but if the high res images are there in the first instance may cause them to scratchchin about the car, then either type or phone. I guess in a sense having the high res images there acts as the bait!

For example, I know the last 3 or 4 cars I've purchased have been a bit spur of the moment as I've come across something that catches my interest whilst casually browsing. The bit that normally catches my interest in the first instance is high res pictures of a clean, shiny car. I then do a quick hunt round the 'net for any buying guides before sending an email to the seller.

DJC you may be right but more pics mean a polishing session and that makes me selling it even less likely. I spend a week staring out of the window after the last one. Moral of theb story dont get too attached to things. Your buying method is how I ended up with it in the 1st place!!!

Haha. Yes, I know the feeling. Once you spend a few hours giving it a good clean then write some lovely prose about how wonderful the car is, listing it's best features you do start to sell the car back to yourself and you wonder why you are thinking of selling!

Likewise, thanks Ollie smile

Hang in there with the BMW. I've no doubt it will sell, it was great to see it and get collected in it as said before it looked a great example. Any serious buyer will now what it is from the description and pictures and won't let the mileage put the off either. thumbup
