Do you ever say anything to no-shows or is it not the 'done thing' as far as the boss/dealership policy is concerned?
Always wondered why it acceptable practice to either:

a)just not turn up with no phone call
b)turn up late, with no phone call
c)turn up an hour early, without checking that is fine

Pisses me off no end, you wouldn't do any of the above at the Drs. or Dentist.

I don't say anything to no shows or people who rock up late, it's not worth it but it is bloody rude and can really screw you over, a simple "im not coming" phone call isn't hard and nothing worse than waiting for someone who doesn't show and whilst waiting someone walks in and deals with your colleague.

I have only once lost it with a customer, he hung up on me after giving me all the right signals when infront of me, after a bit of chasing I got him on the phone and he subsequently hung up, I rang back and left a rather stern message on his voicemail letting him know exactly how I felt.

Probably the wrong thing to do but it made me feel better.

A,b and c all happen at the dentist with great regularity.

The difference is my Dentist will still charge for the appointment (allegedly)

People have no respect.

If it is an NHS practice and an NHS appointment you are no longer allowed to charge in England and Wales.

Only the one today, a used Scenic from a phone call from a guy in Reading, he came in and bought, no money off either.

My colleague had a guy from Cyprus confirming on an email that he wanted it too and would leave a deposit, unseen, my sales manager told my colleague to hold fire as my guy was here, he'd travelled 45 mins and he had seen the car. Nothing worse then taking a deposit on a car unseen and then having the guy turn up a week later wanting to negotiate.

Anyway I saved the day as we only did one, weekends have been crap for ages.

Ridiculous, I always thought it was a great policy. The NHS shouldn't pander to the disorganised rabble that calls it self the general public. frown

And selling cars for them whilst valeting?

I'm intrigued. There are lots of references on this thread to motab customers and the grief they cause.

Never having dipped into this kind of business can you enlighten me as to what sort of people they are and why the cause so much grief please?

Great thread BTW

Not supposed to be selling, but everyone else had disappeared, so opened the motorhome up and let them have a look around. Answered a few questions, rang the boss, explained the situation who advised me what price he wanted, customer made an acceptable bid and then took a deposit. That was Tuesday and it was collected yesterday when I was there. The boss did the hand over.

As a twin myself, do you have any pictures of the 21 year olds? Purely for research you understand.

Most are good as gold, but like ALL customers you get some tw@ts. The ones that think the world owes them a living and then complain about their free car piss me off.

Exactly! I guess it also means the sales bods are able to get a car out 'sameday' should the need arise. It's also comforting to know that each and every car on the pitch is fuelled up for any test drives and as well prepared as it could ever be.
I do get a great deal of satisfaction seeing a well used example arrive and then a few days later it's gleaming on the pitch. Nice also to have a DP who has no qualms about spending money to ensure the cars are always perfect.

Anyone know of any decent Handover Diary software?
Could you not use the diary in Microsoft Outlook? Easy to make/modify appointments and share them among numerous people.

One of those days that we had so many visitors but no customers. I slipped in 1, just before close at 5.00pm.a 3rd appointment so I pretty much new a goer this time. I even agreed an appointment in the morning (My Sunday off) so will come in. I've been in such a good mood today, so I guess it rubs off.

On an even better note, I'm only a couple away from target and it's only the 14th tomorrow.

Anyone else noticed that the last two weeks have been very, very busy? Perhaps the economy worm is finally turning?

And. Thank you fellow PH'er who sent the email to my Head of Business. It was forwarded around the whole group. Unexpected, not required but a really pleasant surprise to open up this morning. Just doing what I try to do with everyone. So thank you! thumbup

We were quiet today, did 5 in total.

Threw one guy out as all he could say was 'Audi have offered me this' -You're not in Audi now and i'm in no position to discount a car i can't get for 6 months.

Mong.
