What do you think you can buy NOW for under £10k that, in 10 years time will be worth over £10k?

Recently with some mates we were looking back at 'if only' we'd bought one of those cars, it'd be worth a fortune now... Well, what could that be now?

Certain models of S1 Elise might manage it. Probably not the standard car but maybe a 111S or Sport 135/160?

I bet some really mint DC2 Integra Type Rs will be hovering around that mark in 10 years time.

I'm probably the last person to ask, having turned down a mint E30 M3 for £6995 and a 964RS for £19,995 in recent years.

There are a few cars hovering around the £10k mark that I think will go up in value.

Audi UR Quattros and RS2s will contine to rise.

I have a feeling about the Z3M coupe - a real one off, and its appeal will grow as the M cars become turbo charged.

The E34 M5 is a funny one. I think it should be a lot more expensive than it is, but values haven't really risen. One to watch.

Otherwise, I predict cars like the Lancia Integrale Evo, Mercedes 190 Cosworths, Sierra and Escort Cosworths, Subaru P1, Clio V6 and the Evo VI Tommi Makinen edition will continue to rise.

Oh, and Volvo 850 T5-Rs in Gul Yellow.

Good chance with a Gineta G33. If you can buy one well now. In 4 years mine tripled in value, but I did buy it cheaply. You may be able to get one for circa £10k. Less than 100 were made so they were few and far between. Ginetta G15 is another possibility

From peugeot:

205GTI
309GTI
306 GTI-6
405 T-16 (maybe)

Other brands

Toyota MR2
Mercedes 500SL
Range rover sport

ALL the fast fords from the last few decades. Finding one in good order will always be tricky so the top notch ones will be sought after.

I think they'll follow suit after the E28. A good one of those is £15-20k today. There were originally around twice as many UK E34 M5s as there were E28s (343 vs 187), but both have seen fairly high attrition rates over time and I can well see a mint E34 M5 in 2022 being the same sort of £15-20k.

Of course they also cost no small amount to get from present average condition up to a condition that will command that sort of value...

Not these. A 205 GTI increasing in value by £1000 per year every year for the next 10? You may as well add classic mini in that reconing neither will be over 10k.

A concourse special edition Elise may with very low mileage and mint condition.

TVR definately you need something that is very high end to start with a close to 10k TVR bought now should increase in value if its kept in top condition.

Okay maybe ten grand is a bit optimistic. But yes, this car, if left in a garage, could probably get 10k in a decade. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2011...

The main problem I see with hot hatches is that they were used accordingly, so finding good examples is a bit tricky...
