My picks:
Golf Rallye (or Rallye Golf)
FD RX-7
R32 GTR
mkIV Supra twin turbo
Ford Cossies (I guess only the Sierra is under £10k at the moment)
Evo 6 TME (if it isn't already)
Impreza P1
Impreza WR1
Clio V6
mk1 Focus RS (though quite why is beyond me)
I think the only way to approach the concept of buying something with genuine value, is to buy a great car that was limited edition and genuinely appealing & then most importantly, make sure it is 100% original and in absolutely immaculate condition.Golf Rallye (or Rallye Golf)

There are some terrific low milleage GTR's out there with lots done to them, but there's no way I can see it holding value against a limited edition factory-spec car.
Evo 6 TME
R32 GTR V-Spec
Golf Rallye
Mk1 FRS (although buy rear wheel bearings and a water pump whenever you can).
E30 M3 - in a good colour
I would also very happily retire in an e46 M3 convertible in that pastel-blue colour they do. Utterly spectacular to drive and also very rare.
I think plenty of cars come up over time that are stunning and need a little attention - those are perhaps the keepers if you can store them properly.
No jags mentioned on here. XJS prices have started rising still below 10K currently but heading in the right direction. Will a similar thing happen to good condition XK8/Rs. You can get early ones for 5-6k now I'd imaging these will drop a bit more yet but may start to recover in 10years with original good conditions R's and special editions more so?
TVR's definitly (possibly V8 cars more so?)I would say have only one way to go as do classic mini's.

There's been a couple of Porsche 968 clubsports for sale on ph for aaaages, now I think if you turned up to view it with 10k in a bag you might get one of them......
so to be fair there aren't any sub 10k 968CS' out there at the moment, but there are plenty that have been up for 6+ months. there is also one particularly motivated seller who only bought a matter of weeks ago & wants out.obviously it's the seller who ultimately wants to decide what they will take for a car but as i said, if you turned up with a bag full of cash you never know your luck. make sure the sills are good & the water pumps/cam chains etc have been done & it shouldn't cost you the earth, & even if you do need to put a bit of cash into it i can't see you ever not getting your purchase price back.
