I think it has a bit of AM One-77 going on.
yes The styling is much closer to the Aston than the Audi, albeit 'stretched' vertically.

I had a good look at the Veloster at the Indy Auto show the other week (Mrs U likes Hyundai's and I'm looking at cars for her). I really liked it, it looks very cool and I'm sure it will sell well.

Hyundai are one of the hot brands in the USA at the moment. Their 10 year warranty is a big plus and the cars are well screwed together. Even the Equus stacks up quite well and it's priced in BMW / Merc territory.

How come they get 10 years and we only get 5?

God knows, but this sort of stuff happens all the time. The UK S2000 service schedule for example, valve clearance adjustment every 2 years, US service schedule, valve clearance check every 4 years.

Both the same car, built in the same plant in Japan.

ETA: Oh, and I like it. Different, the front is very good. The rear is not so good, especially the scallop things in the boot lid by the side of the lights. But, that said very few cars do not have a weak angle.

I quite like the front end of it, the rear is over done a little though... lets hope they loose some of the curves on the rear on production....

Must have something to do with driving habits, climate, buyer/market behavior/perception, and a whole host of other statistics.

The only reason this happens is because the Yanks are much more on the ball about complaining about poor service\reliability and will actually do something about it like sueing, usually in a very vocal manner whereas we Brits tend to just bend over and take it. This is the main reason why we usually get shafted in this country and not only in the automotive sector either.

I imagine it's to do with keeping their dealers in servicing incomes. America will have a much larger catchment area I would guess. Jobs for the boys.
Same with a Mustang - over there it's a cheap service and check-up, over here it's "Ooh, a V8, that's really complicated and we'll charge you double".

My dad has bought one home this evening (Not the turbo, the one that came out last week).
I love the front end, I don't like the back. It's got a lot of gizmos though, all you have to do is get in and drive, it's got automatic lights (that turn on automatically when it gets dark), wipers, the lot. The one he's bought home is an auto though but it does have the flappy paddle gears, but this particular spec isn't really a "drivers car" I don't think.

I'll be interested to see what the manual and then the turbo will be like.

I like it but I prefer the styling of the standard car

Just seen the advert for this (apologies if already covered) but does it REALLY have 3 doors???

2 On the passenger side, one on the drivers side???

Or am I going crazy??

Maybe not the turbo...

I like the idea of them taking on the "boring slow motions" of this world

To many cars are bland now days and look too similar

Its brave of them to do something a bit different

The style is subjective , but if the drive is fun it will sell

The tech spec is great too

Give it a fair chance 1st go look/ test drive , then decide ,

Bit like the DS3 , looks different, some like / some do not ,
But at least the Veloster engine wo nt do its rings like the 1.6 THP Citroen lump or Mini s versions , the owners forums are full of blown engines and poor customer service ) Can nt see that with the Veloster !

I was behind one of these today, never heard or seen of one before but it looked lovely. Certainly a contender for the next 2nd car!

I'm also a big fan of these, the turbo in particular (there's a matte grey one close by) - very refreshing styling. Should be a decent used buy in a year or two, as the initial price just seems a bit too steep IMO.
