So it's a crash repair involving a Citroen and an Alfa. Still, not bad!

I like it and i'll take mine in Matt Grey too.

Think it might look different with the british numberplate in the middle of that grill.

A car that can be said to be a genuine hybrid!

Needs more power.
What price range is it going to be?

Looking at it again i think it needs teeth like the Morgan/Spitfire around the grill and foglights.

Anyone fancy photoshopping it? biggrin

...not sure its really ugly or really cool...

can imagine with a boost tweak/remap it may be a cheap, secondhand flying machine in a few years...

would like to know the cost of a replacement front grill.

I quite like it; a bit heavy looking in places but looks like it could be fun. Something about the back of it reminds me of a cross between a Seat and an Alfa.....

Will the rear door be on the passenger side on RHD versions or is it Mini Clubman all over again?
Yep, the rear door is on the passenger side. Not sure what the point is of only having 1+2 doors configuration, I think Hyundai said that its to ensure the passengers don't get out into a busy road, only the responsible adult in the driving seat.

not too bad with my badge snobbery switched off. Looks better than the new focus IMO.

Get in touch with your inner child (note, I said get in touch and inner)

This thing only really needs guns to pop out of the bonnet grills and missle laughers to pop out from the bottom of the doors and you have every school boys wet dream.

Shame about the engine, as some one said, needs to really be able to hold it with the Megane RS and Focus and future Astra to be worth buying.

But on looks alone - it's mental. Love a bit of mental.

I actually quite like it, makes a nice change from most of the boring hot hatches which seem to be being released these days. Ok it might not have the power to fight it out with the big boys but this is their first attempt. Plus points are that it's light, it'll be reliable, have an excellent warranty and it'll be cheap unlike the £30k Golf's which seem to be the norm these days.

Personally, I'm glad they seem to have shunned the stupid power wars that the other hot-hatch makers are engaged in. I'd generally rather have a 200bhp <1.3 tonne car than a 250bhp >1.4 tonne one.

The question in my mind is whether they're capable making the most of the lower weight to make it handle better than the more established cars.

What's all the comments about power? It'll have 200bhp and weigh 150kgs less than a Golf GTI.

It's not all about power- this thing is relatively light for modern hot hatch.

Unlikely to be more difference than the weight of the driver who, most of the time, will probably be the only occupant.

For all people unsure on the looks...
I hated it, dident like the one77-esk design cues at the front, the mad styled back or the whole 2 door/1 door concept.
But i was intrigued and went having a look at one a few days ago.
Blown away! They look quite cool, very sloping roof line, (which doesn't seam to impair the rear seats)full glass roof, great interior, very quirky, and the back of it head on looks very interesting!
At 200hp and as light as it is, seams brilliant. (Not sure i can get over the tacky 'turbo' on the seats tho'!)

It's been a long time since the Golf GTI, in my opinion, could ever say that it was the yard stick for hot hatches. It's a good car, but when you compare it to any of the new hot hatches of the past couple of years, in everything from looks to speed, to power, to novelty, it's mediocre at best...comparable only to the Civic Type R.

I like it, although it does make the Hyundai logo look particularly dated. Hopefully it drives well too.

And with a 7 year warranty I suspect it'll be a hit.
