What it doesn't look like is a supercar, at least not in the pictures.
Just how are supercars supposed to look??A GT40, which is a supercar, looks nothing like a Zonda, also a supercar! The GT40 stays pretty true to its original design which was around long before the term "supercar" was ever invented!
I think the Lfa is awesome, if not for anything else it just goes to show the Japs are more than capable of making cars just as fast as the Italians, Germans (subjectively as good looking) etc. But they just dont really bother!
Its a shame though as with the Gtr, they didnt do it for a lower cost!
I think it looks fantastic - it clearly sounds and goes really well etc.
It's only problem is that a GTR does almost everything it does for less than 20% of the price - this is a bit of a problem really...
I doubt Toyota care tho - they don't aim to sell a lot and it's done it's job in terms of showing off the tech.

I wish everyone would stop comparing the GT-R to supercars. It's only problem is that a GTR does almost everything it does for less than 20% of the price - this is a bit of a problem really...

Yes, the GT-R is a good car, but most of the reason it can keep up with greater cars is because of its launch/traction control system. Other than that its just a 3.8l engine with a couple of big turbo's. It doesn't sound anything special, it doesn't look special, it isn't special. I've seen quite a few on the roads and it doesn't stir up any emotion inside me at all.
If I had a million sitting in my account, I'd take the LF-A (or any other supercar for that matter) over the GT-R any day.

The problem with the LF-A appears to be that it doesn't seem to follow the traditional hypercar styling cues that we in the Western World are used to, however the far east manufacturers have always trodden a slightly different path which some people like and some don't. I think the main issue is that it doesn't look like a £300k+ car, more like a luxury coupe worth about £100k max and as with most Japanese cars, some of the details are a little fussy and dare I say boy raceresque which doesn't help to endear it a lot of people but that is just in part of the culture. Personally I find the styling OK, not stunning or beautiful in the traditional way but far from a poor effort, especially in the flesh where it looks a lot better.
However what this car does have going for it is the amazing engineering that has gone into it, that absolutely gem of a V10 and by all accounts it's also a scintiliating drive, therefore in that imaginary lotto list, although it might not get to the top of the charts, it will certainly be quite high up in the cars I must test drive list. I also suspect that being a Toyota\Lexus, this car will be 10 x times more reliable and every day useable than the tradiitonaly tempremental Italian offerings so an LF-A as a daily run about then.

LFA is right near the top of my lotto win list.
really it just does nothing for megive me a zonda any day of the week
If I had the means, those two would be first two I went looking for - no questions or second thoughts.
They also both make the most incredible noise, amazingly I think the Lexus actually sounds better but that's down to Yamaha's help I guess. If AMG has taken the same route I wonder what earthshaking cacophony the V12 would produce.
Choosing between them would be very hard though.
