I want to buy that. Now. No, not the IQ tongue out. Any info on when it will be available and how much it'll cost - the TRD version?

The front of the IQ looks like a Cylon form Battlestar Galactica...

The Super-IQ shows exactly what Aston should have done to the donkey in the Cygnet.
Wouldn't you rather that the strapped-for-cash AML spent their development money on new DBS, DB9, Vantage, Virage and Rapide models??

I love small mental cars like that iq, absolutely mental. There are people like me out there who cant justify running big V8's as a fast car etc or running two cars. I do a lot of city driving with the occasional back road blast to friends and family and something like this iq would be ideal!!

There are some other pictures of it here.

That's a very different point though. The Cygnet exists and the money was spent, but I wish they had pepped it up over the standard IQ to get additional power to go with the plush interior and silly price.

Do I think there is a market for a smaller Aston? Yes. Do I ache for a new fast Aston? Also yes.

Disagree entirely. There's a finite budget, has to go somewhere. The Cygnet budget was spent on cosmetic modifications. Drivetrain modifications cost too much. AML had an R&D budget of what £10m in 2009-2010.

For a new fast Aston Martin you have to look at the aftermarket world at the moment. AML seem not to be releasing any more power from the 4.7 V8 and 5.9 V12 engines.

All they appear to have done with GT86 is make an ugly car even uglier.

Meanwhile judging from reviews, surely the suspension is the last thing that needs revising??

I don't dislike small cars, but this is hideous.

But it is FAR EASIER to draw a long sleek exciting sports car
than an attractive minicar.
This is probably why the BMW-Mini has so much success; it may not be the most beautiful thing on the road, but at least it is sympathetic, has a sweet "face", which most Japanese, Korean and whatever-cars don't have.

I think what he was trying to say is that an Alfa 159 is a thing of beauty which a gt86 is not ! ;0)

I am in love with that iQ! If they fancied doing a roadster body on the same chassis, though, that'd be even better...

This

Becomes this...

Both seem to do pretty well even though personally I'd buy neither.
They do sell though so there's definitely a market there somewhere...

Personally Apart from the front bumper being a little OTT I quite like the new IQ

This might come as a surprise to you both but, just because Jeremy Clarkson says so, doesn't make it true wink

That super iQ looks bags of fun. Reminds me a bit of the Starlet turbo, that too had a 1.3Litre engine and 130bhp. Shame it's only a limited run.

If I had to have one it would always be the GT86 though.

The GT86 on the other hand... nice to know TRD has already got their hands on it, although would be more interesting if they focussed more on the engine tweaks than adding cosmetics. The mod list sounds like the sort of thing a 15yr old would dream of after watching Fast & Furious...

= )
I am just glad that manufactures done have this attitude, we would have never seen the R5 GT, 205 GTI, EK9, or any other hot hatch for that matter.

Again this might come as a surprise to you but, there are people who think the GT86 is very nice looking car and that all Alfa's aren't automatically pretty just because they are Alfa's and because they don't follow all the other sheep in that opinion.

Here's a shocker, the majority of Alfa's are ugly. No scratch that, the majority of Alfa's are FUGLY. There, I said it. wink

OH NO HE DIT-UNT.
