RE: Saab sells off museum pieces
Discussion
I agree that the whole sale is sad to see. Never been a fan of Saab but at the end they were solid cars that hold a part in automotive history. Like said before, I feel that the collection should be firstly offered to museums for the preservation of history. It is wrong to break up the collection.
Furthermore, it is my sentiment that the collection should be kept together if at all possible.

The silvery coloured car on the left looks rare, as it looks like a convertible but with pre-facelift bumpers? Here's a link to info on that car.

Saab and Volvo, two very similar brands with similar origins. Both bought by American automotive giants.
GM solely planned to use the Saab name, and produce cars as cheap as possible, sharing mainly Vauxhaul parts.
Whereas Volvo under Ford actually recieved (some) investment to further the cars and increase the range to offer 4 x 4s. Then sold off at huge loss to Ford to some Chinese outfit.
Im not sure what would have happened to either marque without the American intervention????

So where do we find out what they have and where we put in bids? Id love a couple of different Gen Saab Sonnets.

Is the Aero X roadworthy? It might make me a good new run around for the Summer......
I thought the same thing, but......I doubt that roof arrangement is road legal. It would certainly be interesting getting out of it if it was inverted.

Thanks for that, very interesting.... Had a late Aero HOT convertible (horrid, horrid thing) but remember loving my two SAAB Carlssons, so wonder if the early 900 convertibles were any good?richard300 said:

As long at it's SVA-able it'd be fine to drive on UK roads.
