A SOTW I'd actually buy, good work. The MV6 is a great car to drive, I love them.

It's nice, but not as nice or reliable as a Jag x300 or BMW e38 for similar money. Grim colour imo, never been a fan of Vauxhauls really, they always feel rattley and cheaply made, but this is something a bit different I guess..
Not as good as a Granada Scorpio Cosworth either, now I come to think about it.

Looks in good nick! Wonder if it's a PHRs car?

Doesn't really set me alight... I've never really craved owning a vauxhaul... Holden maybe but vauxhaul no!

Comfortable cruiser I suppose!
You'd be surprised just how similar these are to the old Commodore, they share a lot of panels and parts;

Interesting I hadnt twigged that before. Ive got a kiwi friend who's just badged his Monaro up as a Holden. Are you telling me you could stick in a commodore transplant V8 engine on this!? Would it be financially worth the effort?

V8 RWD now your talking...

Now that, my son, is a nice piece of metal.

I drove one of these on an evasive driving day and it did the most excellent J-turns as well as being able to go sideways relatively easily, if you know what you were doing. I didn't, however, and just kept spinning it.

Nice ride, plenty enough power (for me anyway) and in good nick. Top find.

lot of bolster wear for a low mileage car ... i would rather have a higher mile model that has been run for decent journeys rather than the round the doors short trips, and they clock in cheaper lol!

For some, the fact it's not a German marque cockmobile is a major plus. wink Although that colour is awfull.

Good point. I do quite like that Omega on those rims but I also have a soft spot for the Scorpio Cossie.....future shed, Shirley.

Great barge, most of these look a right mess now but this one looks to be sound. Love the look of the seats. Autobox would put the kibosh on any drifting action though I imagine.

Last ones are 3.2 with even more power?

Over on OOF (Omega Owners Forum (Keeping on the brackets theme!)) there was one for sale not that long ago with a LS1 conversion - fairly simple as I understand it!

Oh and came across this that WAS for sale on here http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/showthread.php?t... Looks lovely!

And this one as well - http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?t...

Oh and I had a 2.5 manual Omega in GLS spec and loved the thing - sideways in what felt like slow motion... so controlable!...

It's not a rival for those though so it wouldn't be.

FIL had one of these a few years back and drove it a few times.

-Too heavy
-Too wallowy
-Too thirsty
-Too slow
-Average interior
-Bad brakes

IMO anyway.

Not a good car when new and hasn't improved with age. I'm sure the resident Vauxhall fans will
tell me different though. smile

I can't blame your mate for that, it is a Holden after all!

As far as a V8 transplant into the Omega, it can be done, but whether or not it would be financially viable, is a different matter. Opel, iirc produced some prototype Omegas with the 5.7 LS1, but they never made it to production in Europe.
I think a PHer might have done the LS1 conversion, actually. Suppose it saves on a £600 cambelt change every few years biggrin

The guy I bought my A8 from had a Lotus Omega (ie. Lotus Carlton engine fitted) in his garage.
