Good shed.

Out of morbid curiosity, how much are we talking about to run one of these? I'm guessing a 3-litre V6 in a big old barge like that isn't going to be especially frugal?

Looks in good nick! Wonder if it's a PHRs car?

Doesn't really set me alight... I've never really craved owning a vauxhaul... Holden maybe but vauxhaul no!

Comfortable cruiser I suppose!
You're probably more of an S line kinda guy, right?

Coming from a man called "Camp David" :-) S-Line hell no... check out my garage. Alpina B10 V8S and a E30 325 coupe at the minute!
Has this become a dating site?

For some reason think they still look pretty good especially if they have the chunky 5 spoke 18's on them , block round the corner has one as a daily shed (with a '66 Mustang in the garage), he was asking £2k for his on an X plate, make this look a bargain

My 2.5 was better on fuel than the 2.0 Vectra that replaced it.... The Omegas were not that heavy in MV6/GLS spec... If memory serves me correctly I used to get 30mpg odd on mixed driving - would dip if heavy footed though...

Just to add - the Vectra was the CDX with all the extra's and I think was actually heavier than the Omega..

Had a 2.6 V6 CDX for a few years, brilliant cruiser, never had any problems with it until trying to sell it (Forest Green and no leather) the British PM's used these so they must have some cred? Good old barge....

Wow, the Vauxhall Omega 3.0 MV6 has hit SOTW...

I reckon that for as long as I live, the sight of one will always cause me to straighten my shoulders and lift my chin. In my first job, my bosses boss had one and he scared the ste out of me - the sight of it parked up or turning up somewhere would have an impact on the entire day hehe

You'd be surprised just how similar these are to the old Commodore, they share a lot of panels and parts;
Tis true, until GM stopped making the Omega they were 90% the same car, the Holden just had different wings, lights and bumpers - the 'GL' spec Commodores looked just like Omegas - although the smallest engine one I ever drove (I used to have a lovely job cleaning and delivering hire cars in Sydney when I was a backpacker a decade ago) was 3.2 V6, not that it felt all that sporty, they used to have a 'sport' button that made a little light glow on the dash, and very little else. Fun cars though, felt very light for their size.

The fast ones were total parts bins specials - Omega bodies with Corvette engines and gearboxes.

When GM dropped the Omega Holden took the design and continued to evole it, making it the first car ever designed in Oz.

The guy I bought my A8 from had a Lotus Omega (ie. Lotus Carlton engine fitted) in his garage.
A Lotus Omega is just the European name for a Lotus Carlton - unless you are saying he put a Lotus Carlton engine into the later version of the Omega (The Omega B)?

The old man who lived next to my mum had these. He died at christmas aged 90. I know there is an immaculate 10 K 02 plate in silver tucked up in a heated garage.

Might be a bit insenstive to make an doffer

I like beige.

I wonder what price it would be without a P/X?

I think I recognise that drive way from previous adverts.

Same colour as my old Omega!

I had a manual 3.0 MV6. Loved it to death, fantastic car. On par with the E39 5 series IMO.

Shame that even though I had evidence that the cambelt had been changed, the tensioner let go, and turned the car into scrap. frown

nooo don't the secret out the bag!!

I managed to get a mint 2002 2.6 v6 elite model in the newer shape for... 1100 quid!

amazing value, my mate with a 2012 audi a4 2.0 sport line could not believe i paid so little.

mine has everything, xenons, leather, elec seats, and a great bose stereo.

i feel like i've underpaid the seller, way too much car for a pokey £1100!

I prefer to think of it as saving the family the hassle/costs of having to advertise it.

A good shed of the week. I would rather have a Jag, but the Omega is a good car for surprisingly little money.

Too much time browsing classifieds!

I don't recognise that one, but other ads I will recognise the backdrop whistle

I can only assume you've never driven an E39 5 series then?

Owned one for 6 years, no problemns at all. Think the V6 is pretty bomb proof, heard the early diesels weren't that good and the 2 litres were not powerful enough for the car.

Could average 30mpg (not driving around town) and up to 34/35 mpg on long journeys so not bad really.

Apologies now for going a 'little' of topic, but I am going to look at a high milage BMW E24 635csi tomorrow which looks ok body wise and has a FSH.He wants more than shed money for it...what I dont want is for it to be worth shed money if something goes wrong
Any advice for non mechanical enthusiast!
