Audi R8 turned into a stretched limo

Mid-engined V10 supercar? Perfect starting point for a limousine, we say...

If ever there were a vehicle that it would be inappropriate to turn into a stretch limo, you'd think that a mid-engined supercar would be it. And yet that's what Brit company Carbonyte is doing - it's been commissioned to turn an R8 V10 into a multi-bucket seated limousine.

So far, so weird. But it gets weirder. Carbonyte has in the past helped with such honourable projects as chassis development for the McMerc SLR. Recently, however, it's turned its attention to automotive curios such as a giant Red Bull can created from a Smart ForTwo and a stretched Ferrari 360 Modena.

This latest project is for the same people who own the 360 limo and will feature individual gullwing doors for each of the passenger seats. Hmmm...

Carbonyte says it hopes to have the car built by the summer. We're not entirely sure what Audi thinks of it all... in the meantime have a little look at the rendered video below... crikey...

Interesting. Makes me wonder what it'd be like if they built it as a "normal" four door super-saloon...

I HATE limo's, it doesn't matter what car they're built from or what colour they are, they're all tacky cliched crap!
Once the car of the film star, now only seen taking Sharon and Tracey to the local grab-a-slag meat market club to celebrate their 18th birthday.

most limos are just used for ferrying drunkards to the local club in town..

the bench seats allow everyone to chat and drink and have a decent group get-to-gether..

gonna be tricky with all those forward facing bucket seats to do this to the same level ?

The point of a limo I always thought was to be socialable, on your way to your destination. I think inline seats dont really help the cause. So other than a bit of a joy ride, a little pointless. Hardly going to handle or indeed accelerate in the sense of a sports car.

This looks pretty bad! Limos are way out of fashion, and if this is an attempt to resurrect them, then its a fail im afraid!

i dont get it

the only thing i can see a limo being any good for is dragging a handful of drunk strippers about in, but how would that be fun with rows of bucket seats??

These always look ugly. They take a curvy car and put long straight lines in the middle.
