You're kidding George, they look EXACTLY the same!
It's got a wheel and some vents and buttons and everything, just like yours.
Thank you! It's got a wheel and some vents and buttons and everything, just like yours.
I've crossed the whole of France about 4 times as a passenger in a largish recent Peugeot;
I can't remember the number, but I do remember the dashoboard being so rounded-down.
So, when I see the inside of the Bugatti Veyron,
and then now of the Aston,
I say to myself :
HOW VERY VERY DULL.
Not business-like, not AT ALL a MACHINA as the Italians call a car.
All looking the same, even AT THAT PRICE !

It amazes me that it costs so much for a car to look so cheap & dated.
So cheap, what the digderiduck are you on about?????There are some proper odd balls kicking about.
The DB9 gets such a hard time these days, I'm still lost as to exactly why. Second hand bargains, cracking lookers, what really is not to like. Yes it's due a kick in the arse, but what a beautiful arse to kick!

Yep, and it wasn't nearly as exciting as the Ferrari I drove the same day. I'm sure AML management reckon they can keep peddling evolutions of a tired product based on the looks and Bond connection for a wee while longer yet.....
Sounds like some in-depth experience there. thewheelman said:
Well compared to your Corsa, no it's not dull. But drive one in anger, then one of its rivals. Then we'll talk.
Pompous much? I'm not having that, so he can't have an opinion because he has a Corsa, is that the type of community we have on here? What's your point, he isn't going to be buying a car at this expense so he can't have a contrary opinion? Seems to disagree with your own comments on your profile as follows:"Now deleted my car history, as there's a small minority that like to judge others on that basis alone. Either through spite or jealousy, i really don't know or care. The way i see it, we're all big car fans, no matter what your budget."
Hypocrite.
Now I have driven this car, and various rivals and I don't find it dull. Neither to any of the major magazines. Neither does any journo that I've seen. I believe I am allowed to agree with them but feel free to check my car history and see of it meets your standards, if not, tough.

Lots of car companies do that, AML are hardly the worst offenders either. Look at Lamborghini with the Gallardo.
Gallardo chassis is at least 2 years younger than the Vanquish, of which the DBS is a development.Plus arguably the Gallardo was much more 'sorted' to begin with.
Oh, and Lambo have actually announced a replacement for it....
You're only allowed positive options if you've not driven the car. To have a negative experience you must have driven one as a daily for at least three years, completed a lap on the 'ring (RMA day please, TF days don't count) competed in some manor of hill climb, done the shopping run and know at least three members of the board.
Weirdly, on here you can say that you don't get Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborgini or really any other brand and you'll get little trouble. Say you don't like modern Astons and the personal insults begin.

Seems you little people have upset the AM owners.... you bad people....it's got to the point they have to complain in their private area.....

I've been here nearly 8 years, not seen that before...rather sad...IMO of course
oh and for the record they can produce as many variants as they want that base their 'look' on the DB9. Car Design perfection IMO. - as long as they keep the proportioning right (so NOT the Rapide)
Whether they use the wrong wheels or add too much or too litle bling/carbon fibre is neither here nor there for me.
Cygnet aside. Aston Martin are riding an aesthetic wave at the moment.

Firstly, the DBS is based on the VH chassis (DB9, V8V and Rapide), the Vanquish was not. Plus arguably the Gallardo was much more 'sorted' to begin with.

The Gallardo was more 'sorted'? It's a complete different class of car for one so the two are incomparable.
I was merely showing how Lamborghini amongst many others do far more special editions than Aston Martin, and don't seem to get critisized half as much for it. Dr Bez has announced the new DBS at some open day when the V12V roadster was confirmed. Search the Aston forum, it's on there.

I agree - I love the visual identity across the main range, it's something that's worked very well for Porsche with the 911 / Boxster (of which I am also a big fan). Edited by krisdelta on Tuesday 31st January 13:45

So people don't like the Carbon Edition DBS? fair enough, i'm glad we have a forum where they can freely express their opinions. I'll always try not to judge people on their opinions as we're all car lovers so although we don't like the same cars we all love cars in general and should respect that in others. There are plenty of cars I dislike but I don't go around venting my spleen over them as although I might not agree with their opinions, I would hope I could articulate that in a thought provoking way, rather than just heaping abuse. In the grand scheme of things, my opinion doesn't really count for anything except to me.
As it happens, and for the sake of this particular thread, i'm not a huge fan of the Carbon DBS either (althoughj I did rate it a 10 out of brand loyalty; sorry about that). In fact, although I don't dislike it, i'm unbothered about the DBS in general. I get that it is a fantastic car and much sought after but I just prefer the V12 Vantage personally. If I had the opportunity to own a DBS I would have to think long and hard about it and would only go for it if the price was exceptionally good or I couldn't find a V12 vantage for less. I find the DB9 platform to just be a bit too big for my liking and prefer the 'snubbiness' of the Vantage.
I love my V8 Vantage with a passion and it is certainly the best car I have owned out of a history of some reasonably decent cars. For me, an Aston is the culmination of a childhood dream and I couldn't be happier with it. Is it the fastest? Not at all but I don't care. I'm in it for the whole ownership experience, the owner's club, the passionate indie garages, the days out in the car, the sound of the engine, the lines of the bodywork and most of all, the driving. Every day, when I walk past it, I get a huge grin from ear to ear. Isn't all that what being a member of PH is about?

There have been multiple examples of this from e.g. the Porsche and BMW private areas.http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
