RE: PH Blog: meeting the XJ220

They are not supposed to be the most stable cars at very high speed. I remember reading a comparison test of one against a Suzuki Hayabusa and at 180+ mph car was handful [a very tight grip and lots of small wheel corrections required] and a sweat educing experience whereas on the bike you could take one hand off the handle bars [so the tester says anyway – not that you would be advised to!]
Get yourself to the NEC in November for MPH live / classic car show and you can usually buy a ride in one, on public roads. You are picked up and dropped off from the exhibition halls (quite literally) returning a few quid ligther. The money is all for charity and the drivers all volunteers (do not even claim expenses), from "The Sporting Bears".
I was lucky enough to be there last week and grab a ride in the XJ220 "S" and I am here to tell you that I have never felt so stable at 300kph! A very well sorted car as is the silver car but then any XJ220 prepared by Don Law Racing will be exactly that. Both cars had a tough day with no trouble at all. I'm a big fan of the XJ220, as for video clips just have a scan through you tube.
A real dream car, for sense of occasion if nothing else.

Many many years ago i was lucky enough to blag a ride in the original V12 engined monster - what a beast & a truly great pity that the car didnt end up with the V12 sitting in the back.
How far did you get to go? The reason I ask is because, as of two months ago, the V12 Concept car only has 9 miles on the clock!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
