I had a 1987 Metro. And mine had MG on the front too. Only that was an MG Metro Turbo, which was about the funniest car I've ever owned. The understeer in the wet was ridiculous!
There's no way Senna could have caught me driving back from work in it though.....
(if he'd been walking)

That Nova would be worth a few quid now. Owned by one Mr. C. McRae if I'm not mistaken?

thanks to ph for more group B rally features,as you can see from the comments they always create a lot of interest on here, if this story does not get a 9 average or more i dont know what will, the legend senna driving rally cars that most ph readers (and jurnos) can really only dream of owning. sure a modern day rally car would prob handle better but they dont have the soul of the early 80"s cars

Lancashire Lad said: Russel was a great journo, but maybe not quite in the same league as the late, great LJK Setright! Agree. You can't (well, you can if you wish but I'd disagree) call him the greatest journalist of the last 50 years - a few others enter into that time-frame. Setright for one, as mentioned, but WB as another (the best imo, not just for his writing but a mind that contained everything motoring and motor racing until the end) and, of course, Bolster who died in 84. As for Bulgin on Senna, Russell did a 4pp feature/interview with him in Autocar on the Braz. GP in 87. And the book at plus 200 notes on Amazon is just silly. I did a quick search and can find one at a snip - £100 ! 128 pages. Hmm. Seems a slim volume for a prolific writer. The idea of the book was so the proceeds could go to the Hospital where he was treated, not to try to make a shed-load.

Like racing drivers, there are greats, but never just one who is the greatest . . . LJK Setright William "Bill" Body Dennis Jenkinson Russell Bulgin Would all be in the upper half of my top ten Jenks... Anyone who would drive a Lotus Formula 2 car on back roads in Hampshire, on Christmas Day (when winter was still winter!) without killing themselves or getting caught by the police deserves the ultimate accolade. This is just a small part of some of the wonderful things he did and wrote about in his lifetime.

Whislst I love the 6R4 & the history behinf this particular example, I would prefer it it it had the correct Michelin decals on the side of the front wings - as it did when Senna drove it.
Also is the engine in this a clubman spec one ?

Many years ago my boss agreed to buy a road version for £11k - by the time we had check it out, just to make sure it wasn't one of Mr. Davenports, the seller had sold it for very little more. But we did buy a Quattro, one of the first ones imported, plastic panels, huge turbo lag, etc. So it wasn't all bad!
