£1200 a month for a one bedroom flat?

I'm glad I don't live in a big city anyway but hearing things like that really puts it in perspective.

Internet bravado aside, after 20yrs of rwd lightweight pork....they take a while to get to grips with....keep driving....the real skill is managing the weight distribution on track in wet conditions....I say on track, as obviously no one would drive like that on the road! confused
You're clearly insane man! 2WD Pork in the Wet?? Really? Jee's, just thinking about it makes me want to duck under the covers.
He's talking about proper pork chap. Not the sanitised, watered down, even my mum could drive it modern crap...

Cheers all the same. I'm speaking with a few agencies at the moment.

So I'm on the look out for a place to live. I want to be in London this time. None of this out of town pish. Need tp be close to the waterloo line. Any ideas where I could live? Can't be extortionate, but I can afford 'nice'.

Answers on a postcard etc.
Do your Waterloo trains go through Clapham Junction? If so, Battersea / Clapham area is worth a look. I'm just off Battersea Square, about 12mins walk to Clapham Jct.

About £1200-1300 a month seems to get you a nice one bed flat.
My brother lives in Battersea, certainly close enough to the common at clapham (I walked it in 15mins yesterday). Would get my vote
C'ham, Battersea etc are jolly nice.

Personally, I find them a bit homogeneous. The ambience is oppressively young-to-middle-aged professional. Bankers, lawyers - the only variation is seniority. The fresh out of uni types live in flats and house shares, the higher up sort camp out in the leafy terraces.

My little bro is living very near Waterloo station itself right now and as a single chap, I'd much prefer to hang there. The vibe is more urban, more cosmopolitan, more eclectic, more whatever - not ever house hunted there myself, but I'd bet there are loads of really interesting flats available to a man of some means. Living just off somewhere like, say, The Cut strikes me as fun. Not somewhere that I'd want to raise a young family, and bits of it are obviously fairly grungy, but it's got charactah, it's super central and just a lot of fun.

Just a thought.

V8M - put me down as a maybe for the karting. Can we have a heavyweight division?!

GP - Welcome back. I envy someone who can be so fleet of foot and offski to a different country, I couldn't do it. As another PH'er said to me the other day, better to give it a whirl than to sit and wonder what might have been.

On a similar note, I may have made a purchase....

Wow..this thread moves fast.

Anyway, matt paint. It looks great in pictures, but is it a really really bad idea? I do like that 911 (except for the gravel trap it is in, and the fact it is a C4), and I just think it looks brilliant in matt grey.
It will most likely be a money pit, and is probably horrendously broken somewhere being a Cat C since it is Ebay and all lies.

I also want something very different to my GTO (ie not 4WD and if possible, less practical), since I'm not likely to sell her at the moment.

But I am still drawn back to it.

Also, I may work in London, but sod living there. £1200 for a flat is just scary, although not much better where I live, admittedly.

Well I certainly want to be reasonably central without paying silly money, but also guaranteeing somewhere to park. Cheers for the input.

Already called about it.
Lacquer peel on the bonnet and boot.
Other than that everything else seems in order.

Cheers Ferry. On reflection, it probably wasn't the right time for me to make the move, but I had to give it a shot, otherwise I'd never have known etc.

No harm done. I had the best drive of my life, met some nice people and experienced a new country. Almost like an extended holiday.

Time to head back and get on with my life smile

Should think on-street parking will be pretty grim wherever you choose, if it's fairly central.

Think you might be more likely to find something unusual - perhaps some sort of conversion - with off-street parking in the Lambeth-Waterloo-Southwark stretch than C'ham / Battersea, but renting a garage is always an option wherever you end up. The Pork will get battered parked on the street.

I'll bring some bathroom scales. Everyone lighter than me carries a 3 lap penalty.

That's why I suggested that the second race runs a reverse grid from the first race. Make the lightweights work for the podium smile

Good to see everyone getting those race driver excuses in early!
