RE: PH Blog: Hopping continents in the new 3 Series

Peugeot could possiby look into suing them, but that one could
come out wrong, if the judge ruled the 508 "not in the same class",
but below. BMW doesn't say anything about below, just evoking the
assumption the gadget had "filtered down" into the 3-series.
They can just be damned lucky with their bold claim, that Pontiac
is now a defunct entity of General Motors.

Peugeot 508? a competitor for the 3-series? And what's Pontiac's 3 Series rival?come out wrong, if the judge ruled the 508 "not in the same class",

Well, back in 1988 the Pontiac Grand Prix certainly was a 3 series rival:

They installed HUDs throughout the range begining in the late
80ies, coming to fully integrated systems, which showed more
functions later in the 90ies. When GMs patents lapsed BMW
jumped onto this train. The only improvemt being in the LCD
screens used, which are not a BMW developement, either.
If the 508 competes with the 3series is a question of
perspective. Most 3series are fleet cars sold with meager diesel
engines. Your test 335i providing the "image" for the rest
of us. Nevertheless the 508 competes within the same bracket of
our company car budgets.

P.S.: I do regard it highly, that you are available for this kind
of conversation on the forum. I'd bet I could have been equally
energized and brimming with joy after doing Spain to France in a new
335i. You'll tell us about the shortcommings also. If the car has just one

readiness. We all know, that a 6 Zylinder 3 series is a great tool for the winding
road.
But how does the F30 compare to the E90 and the competition? How does the electric
steering work or play up? What about the autobox and the new navigation?
AND the head up display is not a "class first", even if BMW is touting it. Hell, you
are the journalist. Go do your homework first!

maybe if you read the fking thing properly you'd realise this isn't a review, and that's to follow you ungrateful, rude tt.readiness. We all know, that a 6 Zylinder 3 series is a great tool for the winding

rant over.
drove 335 with sport line (work for BMW dealership in NW US) for about 40 minutes the other day. Initial impressions are that the new 8 speed gear box and upped interior blow the old 335 out of the water. Most impressive is the cabin, which is honestly a more sporting cockpit than the current m3.
