BMW for me, as they are my favourite car marque.
Jaaaaaag sounds MEAN! Like it always wants to be driven hard, but I don't like the bodykit and spoiler on this, looks like they didn't when to stop. Fantastic car no doubt.
BMW will be fantastic to drive i'm sure, and its got a 560 BHP twin turbo V8 monster living under the Bonnet Its also newer than the Jag.
Whats the top speed of the Jag? I read somehwere it's 174 mph, bit disappointing considering all the oomph it has.
Jag is still British to me, even if it is owned by TATA.

As part of my job I have driven most of the BMW and Jaguar ranges now (although not the new M6 yet TBH) and have to say the Jaguar XKR-S blows away everything else I have driven. I drove a black one across town and heads were turning all the way. It was also sooo smooth at low speeds in a way that the BMW high performance cars are not and the interior is a lovely place to be.
I fell in love with the Jag in a way a BMW cannot achieve.

a bmw 6 series that cost £48k new in 2004 is only worth £8k now. you would have to live near a fuel station to use one every day, 12mpg,; I know someone who bought a new Jag coupe in 2009 in white ,its awesome, build quality is way past the older Jags, good looking, good engine,i would have one, maybe in a year when there are more used ones.

The Jag for me, though ideally I'd take the XKRS mechanicals with the standard XKR looks. It would've been a tougher decision against the previous M6, but this one seems rather diluted and a little apologetic for it's existence.

You can order the standard XKR with the 'S' seats and performance exhaust. £89k vs. £103k
I doubt you'd miss the hp difference and the suspension changes are probably only noticeable if driven back to back with an 'S'.
And heres one I bought earlier! I doubt you'd miss the hp difference and the suspension changes are probably only noticeable if driven back to back with an 'S'.
Fitted with the dynamic pack, factory sports exhaust and performance seats means it is has exactly the same chassis, sound and interior as the XKR-S. The only thing missing is 40bhp but, although it's already brutal, the power deficit will soon be (easily) rectified Fully loaded it was £12k cheaper than an equivalent spec XKR-S but thats not the point....it's got all the 'S' bit's without the carp front end!
Oh, it's simply the best car I've had for the way it combines......well, everything*....but especially the long-legged performance, unbelievably gorgeous sound (and this is coming from someone who's had AMG's and a Maserati Granturismo S!) and the ride / handling compromise is sublime - you can tell it's British developed for the controlled and fluid way it rides the ruts and broken surfaces that make up most of our blacktop. Surprisingly, even my Maserati didn't attract as many admiring glances as the Jag (although I will admit that it's Aston-like shape could slightly mislead people!). It'll be a tough car to replace when the time comes.
* as long as you don't need useable back seats or more than 18mpg!
