Personally I think the cars are stunning. The picture is computer generated.

How long have Porsche been tweaking the same car for?? Purists will say there have been massive changes, but then so their ought to have been over ? 60 years??

I am a proper car geek, petrolhead... I go blank when it comes to Astons !
Are you sure? It's not that complex.

Is there an Idiots guide to Aston Martin for AM duffers like me?

Lol, will do some homework but I think its a bit like looking at an Airbus, by and large they all look the same but vary in size, AM's since about the late nineties are variations on a theme, though it is a nice looking theme.

Are AM doing the same as Porsche do with the 911. Continually make the same car. Although i don't think its always a bad thing i still love the 911.

Yes, how dare they keep a company styling theme rolleyes All of their current range (exclude the Cygnet) are instantly recognisable as an Aston, which I'm guessing is the purpose of it. If you notice, every car maker does it.

Like I said, I love the look of them, I just get confused as to which is which, every car maker does do it but Astons are all broadly the same thing, i.e. a GT coupe/cabrio and are all of a similar size, will do some homework !

Gosh doesn't the front look a lot like the new Mondeo?

The new DBS is coming very soon, should be this year I believe. It is also very nearly a completely new car, not just a refresh or facelift.
I have a few friends at Aston :-)

I don't care what they do with the model range...if they look THAT good, they can continue forever...I much prefer eveolution to revolution especially when the basis is pure aesthetic class.

try joining the stylistic dots with Ferrari.... circular rear lights and ....err....oh..

Isn't their problem they have no cash to invest in new models?
Pretty much, certainly nowhere near what their rivals have sadly. The VH platform has gone from cutting edge stuff to pretty much the norm now. It still makes a fabulously stiff and light car, but the others have caught up.
being left behind unfortunately. Stunning to look and lovely to sit in (and lovely sounds too) but getting very long in the tooth. AM looking like they might get left behind unless they invest big. Specialist sportscar makers really need to be either a.) owned by a huge car maker a la Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche etc, or b) be extremely expensive to allow development a la Pagani. Unfortunately AM falls outside this.

I love Astons, but I'm getting bored of the looks, every time they introduce a new one I have to study and compare the photos to see any changes! They all look the same at a glance, even the dated Vanquish looks more exiting than the newer models!
I don't even rate the look of the One 77, a bit too fusy around the headlights, looks like a car for rich people with small willies!!
Time for a radical new direction I think.

I think they actually got more stuck in a cycle of uncertain ownership and therefore no investment and then having to persuade a new set of owners what the company's plans are added to the fact that most of the new investors probably had little idea how much cash you have to put in at first to make any sort of return.

I'll stand up for J4CKO. Yes, lots of manufacturers have a house style that they stick to, but AM have far fewer differentiating models than, say, Audi (eg Q7, R8, A4) or Porsche (eg Boxter, 911, Cayenne).

Not happy frown
They've just take all the bits of my Vantage S and stuck on the standard car
I'm beginning to lose faith in AM.

First new car I've read about in ages where the price hasn't shocked me. 85k seems almost reasonable.

Hmmm, this or an M6?

Other way round wink
The front was launched 3-4 years ago on the V12 Vantage.

>whoosh<

Aston have one platform and make 3 bodies plus ragtops. DB9 (with DBS, Virage), Vantage (V8, V12, Zagato) and Rapide. All are very fast grand tourers with varying degrees of sportiness, some with 2 seats, some 2+2, some full 4 seaters. But all fast grand tourers, Aston do one thing and do it well.

Audi make how many body styles?? A4, A6, A8 look pretty similar (as do 3, 5, 7 series), I'm sure if Aston produce a giant seven-seat 4WD vehicle it'd look different to the others, but that's not what they do (yet)!

Remove Cayenne from Porsche, which they shared with VW Toerag and there's not a lot of differentiation between the Box, 911 and Panamera.

Tell them to pull their fingers out and innovate then
I for one am fed up with this approach and will be looking alot hard at the competition when my Vantage S goes.

I see your point but see a Vantage and DB9 parked together and they are at least as dissimilar as a Cayman and a 911 wink

Yes they all look like the V12V now. No bad thing as i think the V12 is one of the best looking cars on the road.

Is it me, or is it about time Aston Martin redesign the car, I hope they are not doing the old jag way of thinking, just keep updating a dead horse and hope the punters buy into it.
I was just thinking that myself, I want to see a change of design!
