Monkey, can you find out why they aren't bringing these cars to the UK market?

I doubt very much at all this will tempt an M5 owner into a diesel.

However it may very well tempt a 520d owner, may be even a 535d owner into the 550d.

In my eyes it's just a 5 series sport. Putting an M in front of it is pushing it. Unless of course it has proper M5 suspension and other parts?

Anyway, I'm an engine geek - can we have more details on this tri turbo set up seeing as it seems, as far as I know, to be a world first?

Percieved market against cost of steering conversion, I'd guess. Without that much engine and that many turbo-chargers, there's ain't gonna be a huge amount of wiggle room under the bonnet.

It doesn't help that if anyone were interested, it probably won't make it to the UK. Interesting but ultimately irrelevant.

why go to germany to test drive a diesel saloon that you can't get in the UK, where the press conference is all in german? If it is good then what does that tell us? In the next couple of years diesels with that kind of power will be commonplace anyway.

Perhaps Chris also has his Drive channel hat on and is covering this for a number of potential outlets, some of which might have access to buy the car in question?

Regardless of this surely as motoring (and sausage) enthusiasts this sort of tri-turbo torque is of interest?
