The 306 gti 6 was a really nice looking motor regardless of the dash, anyone who had one in the nineties was the s**t. Would defo be tempted if I was still actively shedding, top work riggers.

Always wanted to take one of these for a drive, handling of the 205 without the ability to throw you off the road if you blink at the wrong point.
Anyone else noticed the PH sticker on the boot?

really? Welll... in comparison with a 205, at least... I have owned/driven both and found the 205 to be more benign - I recall Top Gear buying a 205 GTI a couple of years ago and found it to be quite tame - maybe suspension gets tired with age Well, I bow to your superior experience - I 've been behind the wheel of a 205 or two, but only have passenger experience and hearsay of the 306. The 205s I've driven most certainly haven't been tame, mind you...

Would have one now if I could have found a good one Having owned/driven/worked on 306's in various states of age/neglect for the last 8 years I can safely say that if looked after they are completely reliable, very comfortable, fairly strong and ride perfectly. They are a million times better designed and built than their spiritual successor - the 172 and just as quick where it matters. Less grip but "feel" better when pushed. We still have a Dturbo on 140k and I recently sold my 1.8 petrol with 130k on it and no problems at all apart from the aircon which I've never seen working on a 306. That example looks excellent value for money with all the important work done already. Horrible colour though.

Nice shed. I was looking at these on Autotrader earlier this week. Another one to add to my 'need to own at some point' list.

That's 3 really great sheds in a row.
My wife ran a new 306 XSI back in 1996 which we ran for 2-3 years and what a great car, bought it in preference to an S16 actually. I always thought it the best balance of power versus handling car we've ever had, just felt good to drive every time you went out. Think we did nearly 50K miles in it and had no issues apart from really soft paintwork, always dubious of the key pad immobiliser it had though!
I was running a 309 Goodwood GTI (only 4 years old then)at the time and the 306 showed up exactly what a hateful piece of junk it was, tried everything with the 309 but never bonded with it. Think it showed what a step forward Peugeot made IMO with the 306.
Had a look at one when buying the Scooby back in 98 but got dragged in by the hype and never bought a GTI-6, shame really. I've driven a few Pug hire cars in recent years and it just saddens me everytime you drive one with how far they have let things go.
Great shed anyway, must have a go in one sometime.

Not particularly quick, awful inside and shockingly built in comparison to anything from Germany or Japan. Hell, even Rover / MG and most of the Italian manufacturers were putting their cars together in a more durable way. You've clearly never driven or owned one with this load of nonsense. They are very good to drive, excellent fun handling, lovely engine, good gear ratios, built better than you might think (they dont suffer from rust), and right now they are amazing value if you find one thats been looked after. Agreed, the 306 GTI6 is a great car and at the time properly quick with sublime handling. The 205, 106 and 306 XS and GTI models were highlights for Peugeot especially in GTI form. They sold them like hot cakes and are now proper cult cars for good reason. I can't see a 207/208 or any of the current dreadful Peugeot cars being remembered so fondly in the future, which is a shame when the likes of Ford, VAG and Alfa are producing great warm and hot hatches today.

It needed 1 coilpack and an alternator in that time, but otherwise was perfect. Only sold as I needed 5 doors.
They are real bargains at the moment. do it ! I LOVE YOU!!

Back in 1998, I had just started working for a living (instead of being a student bum)
Was still living with parents, so went out and bought a brand new black GTI-6.
Will never forget just how excited I was going to collect it, It was a fantastic car!!

A work colleague of mine had one brand new as company car back in 1998. Had the car on a few occasions for a loan of.Can still remember what a great steer it was.Subliminal handling and at the time enough power to progress at a quick pace.Sure there are much more powerful hot hatches nowadays but very few are as well sorted as these cars were.Great Shedding keep up the good work !

Reasonably tidy looking, often overlooked 206 GTi (138's) are often dropping to shed territory now days as well. I know there are a lot of haters out there but I've ran mine for 18 months and love it, tiff likes it too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL0W-0rXfps

Absolutely deluded beyond belief - For this comment alone I would add you to an 'ignore' list if I could. Whats funnier though is it would beat any car you currently own or have previously owned in a straight line or down a twisty road.
