I know that this one has some dodgy stickers and the quattro is a bit expensive but I have never understood the downer on the A1! I dont know of any of the motoring press ever giving this car a bad review, in fact far the opposite!

And my opinion judging by the amount of them i see is wrong lol. Not caring about cars is one thing but not caring and spending 18K on something they think is cool because its an Audi is another. Spending 18K on an Audi A1 if you like cars is a crime ;-)
Out of interest what would your 18k buy you if you had the choice?

As I said, why didnt PH test the 185ps version?

Its because the A1 Competition Line is really just a dressed up Sport so its limited to the 1.2 TFSI, 1.4 TFSI and 1.6 TDI. No 185 or 2.0 TDI.

This, and a trip to a garage/restorer that knows about Quattros.

Or this

I suspect that 90% of the sticker kit buyers aren't even aware of the original Quattros.

AFAIK, you can order the competition look on any engine config. Just tick the right boxes.

To those saying the A1 is ugly, or an 'eye sore' need to get their sight checked, the A1, like most Audis is a great looking, the stickers/ decals however are not really my thing.

No.
Knowing of, and then buying a car that has a speaker that makes vroom vroom noises spells wker to me, in big capital letters for all to see.
..coming from someone who drives a renault megane with yellow fog lights and a michelin sticker on the splitter..

get a grip.

The A1, and anybody who buys one, deserve nothing but contempt from anybody who likes cars, or anybody blessed with the gift of sight. Same as the new BMW M5 and anything with fake exhaust tips (saw one on the M5 tother day, driven by some fat with a bright red face, probably embarrassed as he realised everybody knows about that POS fake exhaust speaker, I pointed and laughed giving the wker sign)
Sorry, just to clarify: because the M5 has (artificial) exhaust noise piped into the cabin via the speakers it gives you the right to give the driver a wker sign?

Or you have special educational requirements. rolleyes

PS, I'd rather have one of these:

with a bit of synthetic noise in the cabin rather than the hairdryer attached to a 1.6 French POS for example. Hypothetical example of course. smile

Nope was only the 1.4 TFSI 122PS manual, 1.4 TFSI 122PS S tronic and 1.6 TDI 105PS manual. Its been discontinued now anyway, wasn't very popular and used examples are proving hard to shift. Loosely replaced by the 'Amplified Edition'.

Apologies if it offends, but WTF is the number on the door all about? Such a thing is forgivable on a true (utilised) competition car or just about passable on a replica homologation special, but on an overpriced shopping super-mini?confused My first reaction (rightly or wrongly) on seeing one is going be 'what a tool’.

Indeed, I have seen this A1 on the road (or one identical) and it just looked plain stupid, a shopping trolley in drag (and far too high a cente of gravity to be taken seriously at anything other than going to the shops with a tall hat on).
