A guy local to me owns one, I just hope its on a lease and he hasn't parted with 18K on something so tiny. Its not a bad car but it is just so expensive for what it is. For 18K so much more can be had and I am not talking about used.

Why did you not drive the 185ps A1 variant?

A friend recently bought an A1 S line (I think it is an S line, they rave about something sporty about the car).

Undoubtedly the car is overpriced and a very disapointing place to be inside. It feels very cheap, extremly noisy and rattly cabin and terrible road noise.

My friends car cost over £21,000 which is a rediculous amount for such a car.

And my opinion judging by the amount of them i see is wrong lol. Not caring about cars is one thing but not caring and spending 18K on something they think is cool because its an Audi is another. Spending 18K on an Audi A1 if you like cars is a crime ;-)

The A1 is, quite frankly, st. I could use other words to describe it however i would get banned from PH for life!!!

My local Audi dealer has got one & it is seen, unfortunately, on a regular basis. Simply shouldnt be allowed to defile the Quattro in this way.

Utterly appalling cheap advertising shot.

Uuuuugh.

As for the Quattro. What is there to be said? It is the daddy of all rally cars, apart from the Stratos which imo is in a league of it's own.

Many happy, very wet, hours spent in the UK in November of years gone by forests just to get a glimpse of this noisy beast.

Love it. Want it. Cant afford it. Bugger.

More please.

I like the look of that A1, but I do wish Audi would show some integrity regarding heritage and only offer a colour scheme like that on the Quattro version. I know it's only a limited-edition but I wouldn't be surprised if a milder mass-market version comes out in future. At least it'll grip like a Quattro should.

People might say 'yes, but it sells, so so what?', but think about it - a boggo A1 is just a tarted-up Polo. If people can be prepared to part with a not inconsiderable sum of money for a car they could have for much less elsewhere (and if they're after rally image, then a Skoda Fabia vRS or Monte Carlo TSI could be theirs for a lot less too), then surely they can be persuaded to fork out that bit more for four-wheel drive to go with their Audi Sport livery?

What is it though with 18" and worse wheels on cars these days? OK they do look cool - can you imagine this Audi A1 on 15 or 16" wheels? but why is it the older car just looks fine with chunky tyres? I think it is something to do with the purity of the styling of older cars - they don't need so much added bling to make them look right.

I'm amazed the A1 rides OK on those tyres (or lack of them)....

The Scirocco, I believe, has an option for 19" rims - again I think this is crazy - it looks good in the showroom but what is it like day-to-day?

I really like the Competition Line, special editions don't normally work that well but this one is excellent.

As always the argument to that is look at the resale values, they really hold onto their value very tightly. Most will be on lease/ finance anyway, and the resale values push down the monthly payments.

I don't understand, if they hold on to their values that means that are even more overpriced used than when new. The car was not a pleasant place to be in and had simply cheap interior, horrible seats and rattled like the big dipper at the Blackpool pleasure beach.

They are priced in reflection of the supply and demand. They are selling well, competitively priced used examples move fast and there is a general lack of new ones in stock. Not overpriced.

There are some isolated issues with interior rattles, but IMO the build quality is excellent and it does have the best interior of any small car.
