She looks a bit of a bargain. smile

I like 80's wedgieness and have had a couple of TR7s before.

How about this?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lotus-twincam-excel-185-...

Pop up lights, ripsnorter of an engine, grp body, galvanized chassis, suffering a little from Lucasitus from the description. Could be a bargain or bottomless pit. Either way a proper Se7en donor. wink

Its a shame these Lotuses are as cheap as chips.

But they are.

The problem is the cost of repairs.

It would make a very fair Super Seven Kit car. It would need IVA unless you can keep the entire unaltered chassis. If it has a chassis.

The Porsche is interesting as is the oddity of the sellers cars.

Assuming the description is correct this could be a bargain but collection from the IofW is a ball ache.

This post just shows what is about for very little money. The ST24 on the Lotus sellers site is another cheap car.

You are almost spoilt for choice. smile

Thanks to age, decay and the lure of free tax, pre-73 cars for £750 will be scarce (or BL wrecks).
However, you'll find fairly sound examples of:
-old Audis, including the GT5S quattro
-lesser-engined BMW E21s/E30s/early '80s 5-series
-late Cortinas, XR3is
-Hillman Hunter
-Jaguar XJ40
-Scimitar SS1
-Renault Fuego
-Rover SD1
-Saab 99/900
-Toyota Celica/MR2
-Triumph Dolomite
-nearly all classic Vauxhalls of the mini-muscle-car era

I wouldn't be too picky at that price - buy entirely on condition.

Same engine as the LT is it not? The door handles on the 944 I had for a while looked very similar to those on the old T3 bus we used to have when I was a kid. Alternator on the 944 was stamped with VW/Audi logos. Any more?
The block is. But then again a Sierra 1.6 and RS200 engine are arguably the same block.

Nice list there. smile

Audi = Dub-Scene
E21s are superb, E30's less so fives are a bit too bargey and nearly all for drivers with one leg.
XR's are a good shout thrashed, trashed or parts held together by rust for the budget.
Cortina/Granada cool but as bargey as the BMW five series.
Hillman Hunters with the mighty Roots engine is a nice budget version of the MkII Cortina.
XJ40 did they ever do a manual version?
Scimitar SS1 great cars, as under rated as the MX5 used to be. Pop up-ish headlights and either 180sx or CVH power (that I would bin in favor of a Zetec or ZVH). I have two on my watch list.
Feugo N/A ones in budget, needs a turbo to keep up with my Cinquecento Sporting. Doesn't the Volvo T5 drop straight in?
SD1 of course.
SAAB 99/900 Never really appealed to me but very capable.
Celica GT4 yes, everything else is ballast.
MR2 X-1/9 replica.
Dollies very capable chassis but bargain or bottomless pit for the budget.
The Vauxhall Viva one of only three GM Europe cars I would consider owning.

It does look good, I'm sure it'll still end up being a bargain for someone.

The description "Drives like a turbo" for that 944 with the 8v 160 BHP engine translates to me as "I've driven this as hard as it will go to make people think I have a turbo".

I wonder if a non-vanos 2.8 with a 2.5 inlet would fit?

Yep, first XJ without a manual option was the X308 V8, which means there are a few X300 XJR's with manual gearboxes around.

944 is a decent car and very usable for pretty much everything - been doing tip runs the last couple of weekends with my turbo! You cram a lot of junk in the back of those things smile

From the comparison of VW/AUDI parts... the 944 has the same door handles as a mk2 golf except the say Porsche and cost a lot more. There are lot of bits even in the 944 turbo such as wiring connectors etc that say VW/Audi on them but then a lot of it is Bosch as with any BMW or Merc or the same generation!

So what have you found?!
