To the tune of The Who's Won't get caught again:
"Look at the new Boxster........Same as the old boxster"
Wrong "Look at the new Boxster........Same as the old boxster"
You seriously don't see the two models as similar?
The biggest change - the crappy fins on the rear lights that blend into the rear spoiler are very Korean and if they were on a £15K Kia you porsche forum guys would be deriding them.
You can't really blame Porsche, they have a winning formula so why risk changing it too much? After all the Cayenne and the humped back saloon show that whatever the (undoubted) skills are in Stuttgart car design isn't amongst them.

Agreed - at £30K it is not a poor man's anything, until it depreciates to £6K with the danger that the nikasil liners will go oval and you'll need to spend the same again at Autofarm to get it fixed. Cracking motor though.

Point 1 : Agreed +1 . What's interesting is that the people I have heard saying Boxsters are a "poor man's Porsche" never turn out to own GT3s or 959s, they turn out to drive Mondeo diesels or similar. Just like the people who say a modern Aston is a "very expensive Ford" never turn out to be DB5 owners.[POTENTIAL PUB FACTOID] Are Ferrari the only other manufacturer to have a convertible as their entry level model?
Point 2: Other manufacturers with convertibles as their base model include Lotus, Morgan and Caterham (though the entire range is convertible or barchetta so this may not count). In the past, TVR.
Never been a Boxster fan, but that is very nice. Cunning use of large wheels and small overhangs disguise the size increase really well, and it looks a much neater car.
If the new Cayman looks anything like that impression that's something I would consider, providing it came with a non self destructing engine and manual box.

Not just the best looking Boxster ever, but for my money (if I had it...) one of the best looking cars ever, full-stop, at-all. Perfectly proportioned, muscular without looking silly, graceful without looking delicate, massive wheels and arches without looking cartoon-y. Just stunning.
Really would take this over a 911, unless having 2 child seats was an absolute life-or-death-er. Hell, I'd have this over almost anything. I cannot get over how pretty it is.
Please don't let that electric steering screw this up...

I do wish you would all stop going on about how good looking this new Boxster is. My wife's 987 Gen II is three years old in September and I am resiting the urge to go to my dealer and trade it for a new 981. I can see me getting drawn into it quite easily! I'll have to have a test drive but the new 2.7 is lighter than our 2.9 and promises slightly better performance (which in the 987 Gen II 2.9 isn't at all sluggish anyway)

Have you picked your spec yet? In theory of course

As previously mentioned with their recent past of making engines that can die at any time unless this comes with a 100k engine warranty I'm not interested.
I know other manufacturers don't give this kind of warranty but then they haven't fitted £7k+ time bombs either.
Vauxhall offer a 100000 mile warranty. http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gAssing/topic.asp?h=0...I know other manufacturers don't give this kind of warranty but then they haven't fitted £7k+ time bombs either.
