Can I ask is it really 2-3 times better than an MX-5 as it's priced? For day to day motoring not tracks.
I'm seriously looking at one of these (you struggle to spec one less than 50k) whereas you can get a top of the range MX-5 for around 18K if you shop about.
It's a genuine question - I've never driven a boxster so don't have that knowledge myself.
Get yourself down to an OPC and take a Boxster out for a drive. Not only is it a well balanced and fun car to drive, it's increidbly practical two seater convertible with storage in the boot and under the bonnet. My OPC is quoting September delivery but I expect the waiting list to grow after people see the car for the first time next month.
I've already done numerous specs. My latest is:
GT Silver Metallic 1,594.00
Roll-over bar with Aluminium Look paint finish 344.00
Mesh wind deflector 182.00
ParkAssist front and rear 599.00
Electrically retractable exterior mirrors 202.00
Automatically dimming interior and
exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor 332.00
Sports tailpipe Exclusive 364.00
Seat heating 283.00
Cruise control 267.00
HomeLink (programmable garage door opener) 194.00
ISOFIX for passenger side 121.00
Sports seats Plus (2-way, electric) 1,291.00
Guards Red seat belts Exclusive 166.00
Porsche crest embossed on head restraints Exclusive 138.00
Sound Package Plus 397.00
Telephone module for PCM 526.00
Voice control for PCM 308.00
PCM including navigation module with universal audio interface 2,141.00
3rd Year Porsche Assistance 169.00
Third Year Warranty 660.00
Total = 54,088
For starters, I think you can remove the 3rd year assistance and warranty but not sure (-769). If I choose Platinum Silver instead of GT Silver (-1,036), I'll also cut the aluminium roll over bar (-344), and the sports tailpipe from the spec (-364). That's a total saving of 2,513 giving a purchase price of 51,575. The removal of Porsche seat crests (166), voice control (308), red seat belts (166) and dimming mirrors will not detract from your enjoyment (50,935). I've selected manual and I think PCM comes with Sports Chrono but waiting for the OPC to confirm that.
What's your ideal spec?
