I rejected the offer to repair it for the reason you identified and also because I fear the reprisals of 16 months of water ingress, it has few interior fittings now as they've been damaged, removed and not replaced frown

I identified 6 possible replacements, at a dealer lical to the Mazda HQ, to show there were some as I had been told there weren't any. The one they offered was from that list, there were 5 others on that list, from just that 1 dealer, there must be many, many more out there. If your wife gave you hell for four years and you finally got rid of her, would you want to pull back the duvet and see an EXACT replica laying there??? I just want a different colour, when I pull my curtains in the morning I don't want to see what appears to be the EXACT LEMON sat on my drive frown

Finally, if I was offered a like for like replacement, and this costs up to £9995, accepting the offer of £7500 is not in my interest. I just want a fair conclusion Crow555 wink
Trouble is, the only Icons I can find on Autotrader (forgive me, I've not searched too thoroughly, I'm on a coffee break) are sitting around the 7.5 - 8k mark. I did find one on Mazda's own site at 9k but it was on an 07 plate with less than 20k on the clock. I'm not sure where the £9,995 comes from with respect. Fair enough, I probably only know the values of the facelift models (since we own one) but it did look like a way of getting yourself out of this situation.

As the car must be from a Mazda dealer, I have to assusme that the dealers are putting their mark up on the cars? This: http://www.mazdausedcarlocator.co.uk/used-mazda/15... is the 'like for like' offered and this is at £8995 - still £1500 more than Mazda want to pay for mine?!

Just been tweeted - apparentley they were waiting for me to confim which of their 3 options I would choose (from their email of 4 May):

Quoting Mazda Customer Assistance Manager:

"At this stage, I thought it would be beneficial to confirm the options made available thus far;

1. Hendy repair the water ingress issue at no cost to you, which would be an interim measure until a replacement vehicle is sourced.

2. We continue to work with Hendy Mazda to source an alternative vehicle, although I am unable to place a timescale for replacement. The options to view the replacement would be dependent on where the vehicle is situated,

3. Our race team purchases your vehicle for £7500 allowing you to source your own replacement, I am afraid that they are not prepared to increase this figure.

I believe that the above options demonstrate our intention to reach a solution for you; therefore please let me know which you would like to pursue"

I don't really have an option, do i?! If they have not been able to 'fix' the water problem in 3 weeks of being garaged, why woudl I put myself through that again - I had no courtesy car remember.. I would not accept the offer of £7500 as has been discussed, I cannot source a like for like replacement with it so I have no option but to wait for them and be at their mercy. It is so frustrating!!!!!!!! Knowing that this is the kind of customer service you can expect, why would I want another Mazda????? I could SCREAM!

Ask them for a courtesy car.. But I think they've given some pretty decent options.

They will never give you the full retail value of a car in their network in cash, as they have margin in it. However they have offered you a car worth £8995?

Seems very reasonable to me and the more I hear of this I think you have unrealistic expectations.

If it's a 'like for like' replacement the difference in value between the cash offer for your car and the asking price of that car is irrelevant.

They haven't said they'll pay the difference between what they will pay for mine and what it costs to buy the like for like replacement, from the other dealer, that's the issue here Roo..

Perhaps I haven't explained this properly, sorry.. They offered like for like replacement.
I identied the cars. They have not agreed to pay the difference between what they are willing to pay for mine and what the like for like replacement costs.

You agree on the replacement car, drive your one in and the replacement away.

That's why they're insisting on you having a car from the dealer network as they will sort out the financial differences internally.

Completely agree with the time thing, that's why I want them to find the replacement... I don't do hassle, maybe that's why it's taken this long? What's with the 944s2? smile

They've offered it to you several times. Take it and move on.

Seriously, as already mentioned, life is too short.

To prove it's you and the story is real, it's a pistonheads thing.
