As much as I advocate old-school fun, 85 grand for a E30 M3 is just taking the piss
Relying on a collector with a so much money it does not matter.
One man's meat...

I adore the E30 shape and should have bought an M3 when I had the chance but I tend to agree. Granted you cannot rationalise the price a collector is prepared to pay but the E30 M3 seems over bought to me.

Not aware of current prices but there is almost certainly more value in a E30 Hartge C2.7 and they are a damn sight rarer than the common M3. wink

What do you reckon was fitted to the 2.5's then? And just to let you know I've never seen or heard of a 2.5 head without the 'Coscast' logo including my own. The Cosworth internal designation for the 2.5 is WAB, (2.3-16 WAA & 2.5-16 Evo & EvoII WAC.) So, you should consider both the 2.3 & 2.5 on their own merits as they are somewhat different, not on some hearsay about Cosworth heads.
Its interesting a lot saying the merc is a better everyday car with a few having probably driven the merc and the M3 for a drive or two back to back at most a week if that, i have owned mine for nigh on 17 years(I am 2nd owner from new) never been restored, painted etc, i have just serviced it and changed just the perishables no more, i have never tracked it nor over pampered it i just drove it as a normal car built for the road period and has been bullet proof ABSOLUTELY in all the years i have had it, and it is plenty quick enough in the real world on the roads "passed a 968 while we absolutely cained it from Donnington to London in 2000 and the guy gave the thumbs up when i turned off on the A406" i have not had a single major issue with this car NON even the timing chain is SOLID, of course if you do things moderately be it live or drive you should never have issues, my car is on the original everything from day one(Panels, Suspension Exhaust system, seats, sterio etc) albeit steering wheel which is MOMO and rear Lights and the back box(i still have the originals) otherwise everything is SOLID. SO for all those nay sayers if you want one have the dough get one period and stop with all excuses under the sun, Mine ain't going anywhere as well, she will be with me till i die, Some picture of Lady George are below

That price is just retarded, buy a 997 GT3 RS and have twice the fun
Twice the fun?
That's wrong,

You'd have at least 5000 x the fun in the RS.

You won't make money on a CSL for many years yet, if you keep the miles low then you may be able to sell for what you bought one for in the short to medium term, but any serious appreciation in value will be long term, read 10 years, (IMO of course).

Amazed at the way CSL prices have increased over the past year. E30 M3 still seem to be climbing too, assuming you can even find one for sale?
