RE: Chris Harris video: Porsche Boxster S
Discussion
I am generally not a fan of Porsches but I want this car very much indeed. It looks fantastic, The wheels are excellent too, I personally like big wheels on a car, people complain when they don't fill arches and complain when they do.
So a big thumbs up from me.
I agree on the electronic handbrake thing. Even though I haven't driven a car with one, it just seems idiotic.

You gorgeous thing. It's come a long way since my 99 S, and now I want to own another. This one to be precise.
P.S. Why can't Porsche stop vertical smears on the windows? Every time you lower a window in a modern Porsche, there they are. Annoying for those affected by OCD tendencies.
It's not only you! I kept focusing on the smeary windows, it also happens on my s2000 so I always have my window down!P.S. Why can't Porsche stop vertical smears on the windows? Every time you lower a window in a modern Porsche, there they are. Annoying for those affected by OCD tendencies.
Am really liking these vids, informative and to the point. Keep them coming.
P.s I would love to see group tests of current cars I.e take the most common "what car threads" and test the contenders back to back.

how much to spec the styling tongues and bouffant kit?
You did watch the video, right? Seems to be a great all rounder at vaguely sensible money.

Fantastic video, this is what I think Topgear should be like though I accept it would lose them viewing figures.
The new Boxster really is in a league of it's own. I could never get over the styling of the previous generations but they have finally made the front look different to the back. Ignoring the idiotic comments about MR2s and "for the same money you could buy a 2nd hand..." which blight these threads, I think Porsche are onto a big winner.

I'm afraid I have to agree with comments about the aesthetic similarities to an MR2 spider. The headlamp graphic, although better proportioned than the Toyota effort, is almost identical in profile, as is the treatment of the rear flank intakes. Much as I try, I can't get past this horific emasculating visual link.
Huge shame. I imagine there'll be large dent in one of the floors in Zell am See at the very spot where the clanger landed.
