Hello to the good folk of PH.
I'm looking at acquiring a dash cam. I'm not looking at spending much - as little as possible ideally. Just something so I can get some feedback on my driving in the AD forum!
Any experiences with certain makes?
Thany Manks.

With out an exact budget specified, I don't know if this falls within your as "little as possible" criteria, but its ideal: motorsport dash cam

How long do you wish to record for? High definition? Roadhawk are very good and reliable - they also plot your speed and map your journey 'live' on google maps when you download. Plenty of youtube videos and all links available on their website: www.roadhawk.co.ukPricey though......

Couple of questions - are they wide angled enough for car recording - either mounted on a headrest or on the dash? Also, do they record whilst charging? One more, once the card is full can you get it to write over again from the start, or is there a way of wiping the microSD card in situ? I'm looking for a simple cheap portable (between cars) dash cam recorder, this looks pretty good!

I had an md80 clone. Quality was ok when it worked , but I wouldnt bother with one. Probably better off getting an android phone and an app. Someone recently posted about how they did that.
I have used my phone and got decent results but it took a lot of battery power.

I would vote for the GO PRO.
The new one costs a fair bit but is well worth it, the old one is decent but costs less. You can buy additional mounts for bumpers ect, might make for interesting videos

GoPro & Drift HD both look great, but are 2-300 quid. Looking for something on a more modest budget...

I was looking into getting a go pro hero 2. The marketing video on you tube is very impressive. It would be nice to attach it to my bumper for some exhaust shots too

You can get the original GoPro hero for not much over £150 if you hunt around, and if you plan to use it lots they are about the best quality for the money. The MD80's are are as cheap as chips though if you don't mind the lower quality. http://www.buyandfun.com/en-gbp/md80-mini-dv-dvr-s...

Thinking outside the box, but still inside the 'budget' box...
Could you not just mount your presumably video recording capable phone and record a video that way?
Can get a suitable mount that doesn't block the camera, and job's jobbed.
