not subtle enough for me...
Mine would need to have steel wheel and no bodykit like this one
But then you'd just have a boggo ute with not that much power, luxury or practicality. It'd be like driving round Munich in a Mercedes c180.Mine would need to have steel wheel and no bodykit like this one

" "Strewth mate, that's a beaut ute!" called out a wandering Australian tourist. Or would have done had we seen any Australian tourists or, indeed, if Aussies actually spoke in such stereotyped tones. Which we didn't. And they don't."
They do you know. Haven't you ever seen Crocodile Dundee???
Second that - the stereotype is true. Hoons weapon of choice in WA, mostly seen with a set of cheap steel wheels and slicks on the rear. Responsible for more donuts than dunkin themselves and best to treat as a mobile roundabout if any moisture around - which luckily is about as common as Halleys comet. They do you know. I have one of the older SS V8's (2004, still a LS 5.7) which i use for running palm fronds to the dump- problem is by the time I get there they are all gone????
I see these everyday and they are fantastic cars but........ for almost half the price you can get a standard SS with the same engine and interior, 18" or optional 19" wheels and look almost identitical.
They are currently on sale here for 43k with exchange rate that works out about 29k GBP. Now that more like it!

I am currently working in a office in a building company head office.
There are 10 project managers who spend their time either onsite or in the office.
8 of them drive either ford or holden utes. Mainly V8s, but a couple of turbo 6's.
One other had a modded Soarer and the other has a Hilux dual cab.
Plenty of market for them here.
Not for me though. Don't really rate them for me. I can understand the appeal though.

Colonial, I'm a bit out of date now, but just a few years all those utes would have been tax deductible, where as the Soarer wouldn't be.
Is this still the case? If so a performance ute would be somewhat nicer than a Hilux I would think.
For some reason I thought that wasn't the case because of payload or something? Could well be 100% wrong on that one! Is this still the case? If so a performance ute would be somewhat nicer than a Hilux I would think.

Easier to get a Hilux on/off the beach.
Bibbs where I live, up here in Queensland, most beaches, at least those you can drive on, are sand fly ally. After once spending half a day on Fraser Island, I avoid all places heavily populated with sand flies, so getting off beaches is not a requirement.
I've had a couple of Hilux utes, & have great respect for them, but they have no respect for my old back.

Out west we don't have such issues. Smaller spiders, no bluebottles, no crocs, less venomous snakes. After once spending half a day on Fraser Island, I avoid all places heavily populated with sand flies, so getting off beaches is not a requirement.

But that's the main reason I could see a Hilux over an HSV, is the weekend use and maybe load capacity.
Otherwise it'd be Maloo all the way.
