Great stuff, real impressed with the level of work that's gone into it so far. We have a few military vehicles but being the genuine article they're all classed as 'historic vehicle' or our Spartan APC is classed as a crawler. Not really sure what you can do with this. It may be worth asking over on HMVF, one chap built an Sdkfz 222 replica based on a Land Rover 110 chassis, I'm sure he would have some knowledge on that subject.
Having gone through this with the DVLA on a converted van...
The DVLA classes are based purely on what it looks like - ie so the police can identify it.
You simply take pics and send off the log book.
In my case I asked for "dual purpose vehicle" and they decided it was an "MPV"
The list of available categories is online.
My Manitou Telehandler is being classed as "Off Road Tractor"

Hi I agree that I will have to word my application and description correctly as I know it will not pass the sva test so I have to use the log book to get this back on the road but as I have not touch the chassis and running gear I see no reason why it cannot. thank you for the info.

You obviously have remarkable energy and considerable resources.
I have been building driving and enjoying Kit Cars for well over forty years. I have built dozens and and driven hundreds over that time.
I am an Accountant by training and profession.
The machinations of the DVLA in variable requirements on registration and IVA requirement from Vosa are complex and subject to individual interpretation locally.
You have a really interesting, indeed, stunning project on here.
I would take advice from anyone who has dealt with such matters BEFORE you contact the authorities. A great deal can be achieved by approaching the issues in the correct way. I have personally seen decisions which were remarkably vexatious and decisions which seemed extremely lenient. A great deal depends on the information you give to the DVLA and Vosa from the start of this process.
Your description and presentation of your case will be pivotal in ensuring relatively easy and simple process through the bureaucracy.
