I'm a huge fan of the Nissan R32 and R34 GTR, the looks of the R33 were not to my liking though.

The way I see the GTR's is this- Nissan sold a half finished car. It was down to the owners/tuners to finish the cars off to their liking. Which is similar to the Toyota Supra, and most other top end Japanese performance cars of the period, due to the power restrictions they imposed upon themselves.

Is white still a prestige colour in Japan?
There are lots of white GT-Rs because white is Japan's racing colour.
Japan has always used white for racing cars apparently becuase it's got something to do with purity of spirit or some other nonsense. Others just say it's because white paint was cheaper and happens to be the main colour of their flag.

Silver in Germany, hence why AMG usually launch their cars this colour, and is said to be because the Auto-Unions were painted before a race and were a few KG too heavy to meet race regs, so the pit boss said strip all the paint off to bare metal, and they liked the look so stuck with it.

With this sort of logic, why aren't American cars painted s**t brown ????

It's a nice story (about Mercedes) but it isn't true.

...they only have troubles if they are tuned poorly and not looked after...the RB26 engine is very strong...my R33 did 98,000 miles easily

Never driven an R33 or R34, but have driven an R32.

It wasn't standard, and it felt proper raw.

It's my personal favourite Skyline.

Not keen on the R34 (looks wise, anyway!).

One of my all time favourite Japanese cars. IMO the best looking skyline, a car I would love to own in the future, if I ever have a chance.

I know this is about the GTR but I think people tend to overlook the rwd GTS-T...
I had an R33 and it was a fabulous machine, ot may not have had the massive power that the GTR can produce but it was very useable and certainly more than quick enough to have some fun in.

Hi Chris, its the fat drunk bloke with the Westfield you met on tuesday night in the PK.

I agree with you... much prefered my R33GTR to my R34GTR to drive and look at... Most people much prefered the R34 to look at though. It got ALOT of attention!

I didn't think much of the car at all. Thought it was very overated compared with the 996Turbo I owned at the same time. Porsche was just better in every single way for me. Cheaper to run and much more reliable and classy as well.

here is my old one. had a proven 552bhp, but never felt that fast at ALL to be honest.

In fact when I had it these were my other cars... and the Skyline was my LEAST fav to drive!

LOL, worst look at how many nice cars I own post ever biggrintongue out

Isn't it strange how people can take different things from the same cars. I also test drove a 996 Turbo at the time before I bought my R34 and while the 996 was a very competent car ad rocket ship quick, it just felt a little too dull and safe compared to the R34 which is why I chose that instead. Still if we all liked the same cars, it would be a very boring place. thumbup
